No, the study has been replicated and confirmed here as well. A PP mentioned that the committee was supposed to meet to discuss updating the guidelines but then RFK happened. The only reason to get more than one shot now - assuming no sexual contact - is because the guidance hasn't caught up to the science. |
Yeah I hear that. I guess it depends if this is a condition that is forever or comes and goes. Probably no later than 15/16. Side note - Anal?!!! I feel like most girls aren’t doing that!! (Oral yes) |
| DD will wait until 15 and just get the one shot |
This generation has all sorts of different views on what they think constitutes “sex,” and what doesn’t count. It’s all so new and foreign to how I remember things were. |
| I would just get it when she is feeling well (not in a flare up). But I would lose sleep over delaying until whenever that is. Teens tend to have a low number of sexual partners, majority of whom will have been vaccinated anyhow. Her risk of exposure, even if she engages is something, is low |
Are boys also getting HPV shot to? Because they’re certainly at risk for throat cancer if they’re doing oral sex. Tell them now. |
|
Yes, boys get it.
Get your kids this shot. |
It will only protect them if they have extremely supple backs. Look, even if this protects kids from ONE single STD, what about the others? They should have protected sex. Period. No need for this vaccine. |
| Tell your kids the likely consequences of oral sex. They need to know. |
Given RFK jr I would do this asap as long as your child’s doctor says it’s ok |
Sad. Your actual doctor will probably tell you that the NCI has NOT changed their recommendations, although they are tracking ongoing research. And there are nuances not captured by "is as effective," because the study population is limited to younger teens or preteens. PP also missed the mark on the WHO recommendations. The WHO acknowledges a "comparable" efficacy and durability of protection, but that doesn't mean it is the same. They are promoting considering a one-dose regimen in order to "improve access to the vaccine, offering countries the opportunity to expand the number of girls who can be vaccinated and alleviating the burden of the often complicated and costly follow-up required to complete the vaccination series. It’s vital that countries strengthen their HPV vaccination programmes, expedite implementation and reverse the declines in coverage. " But they are promoting it as an OPTION. They would not still include a second dose if useless.

Nope. See above. |
| Are nine year old children having sex? |
|
It hasn't trickled down to her yet because the actual guidelines haven't changed. Not for the CDC, the AAP, or the AAFP. You "enlightened the doctor" as to your own impulsivity in interpreting what you read online in anonymous forums as fact, not opinion. |
