+1 That's just really bad coaching. All these possible explanations on this thread essentially lead back to bad coaching.

My DD is struggling with a team and coach this season too. She’s my youngest and we are having these tough conversations. It’s a hard lesson to learn that sometimes it’s not you and you won’t get played. It’s not ability or anything else but you can’t control favoritism. The only option, after asking what to do to earn more playing time, is to sit there and pretend to have a good attitude if you want to play next year for the school (if you think there will be a different coach). Quitting mid season will guarantee you are done.
