This Trump quote on Maine

Anonymous
This is beyond insane.
I have a friend who worked in the area of Title IX for years. Withholding funds is an extreme step that never happened even in some pretty egregious cases she told me about but has already happened to Penn over a single transgender swimmer. I also know a woman who was subjected to months of extremely disturbing sexual harassment in her graduate school program. but because of Trump changing the rules on Title IX the guy was able to drag it out until he graduated and her complaint had to be dismissed in spite of the very real harms she endured. Not much protection of women there.

Lots of people will be absolutely delighted with this. And not just MAGA. Anyone across the county who feels Democrats are the party of elitists that demand total belief compliance from everyone. The people who think the Democrats stopped listening to voters. The people who resent Democrats telling them that they have to accept their entire orthodoxy or they are bad people.

You don’t understand it because you are a DCUM Democrat, almost certainly UMC or wealthy, almost certainly a woman, probably white. You are one of the people that everyone else resents because you’ve attempted to shove a belief system you think makes you the best person, better than others, down everyone else’s throats.

Just FWIW, I do not support Trump’s behavior here at all. But the hermetically sealed echo chamber that convinces themselves that everyone agrees with you is wrong here.

Trump is a generationally clever politician. He’s picked an issue where wealthy white Democrat elites are on the opposite side of the rest of nearly the whole country, and he’s using it as a way of demonstrating that the Democratic Party doesn’t listen to its voters, is out of touch, etc. So when he is demanding an apology, people see him as demanding an apology from a bunch of wealthy elitists who believe they are better than everyone else. They don’t see it as bullying. They see it as him fighting for the underdog against power structures and people that hate them.

This is impossible for most DCUM Democrats to understand, however, because it requires them to admit that they are wrong, and not superior people. It requires them understanding that their adherence to political orthodoxy and fundamentalism has alienated large swaths of the voting population. It requires progressives to admit that they are as religious as the fundamentalist Christians, just on different issues. And that’s never going to happen, so you will remain puzzled that most of the rest of the country doesn’t see this quote the way you do.

DP. I don't get it.

Can you show for me, EXACTLY AND SPECIFICALLY, where Kamala Harris or other major Democratic candidates running in 2024 had "put men in womens sports" as part of their campaign platforms or anywhere in their campaign speeches?

Show me something specific and maybe I'll start to get it. If not, maybe you can start to admit you're the one who's wrong and to acknowledge that the GOP ran a massive smear campaign claiming they did. Bob Casey for example lost because of that smear campaign and NEVER ONCE said a single thing about women in mens sports.

So either provide specific evidence if you want me to "get it" or back off and change course.

Here’s how we can settle this. Can YOU oersonalky state that you want transwomen banned from all girls’ sports teams and girls’ locker rooms? If not, then it’s part of your personal platform too. We know how important trans folks are to Democrats, even though you’d prefer if swing voters weren’t made aware of it.

The fact that Biden tried to change Title IX to redefine sex as gender identity proof enough.
But, you can also add to that - 203 Democrats voted to allow biological men in women's sports instead of protecting women and girls.

NP. Does "protecting women and girls" involve a wholesale attempt at erasing the contributions of women in the military because of "woke DEI"? How about waiting until women are hemorrhaging or septic woth a futile pregnancy before providing them with appropriate healthcare, or putting them in the position of needing to be medically airlifted out of their home state (Idaho) to seek lifesaving care like it is some third-world country? How, exactly, does that protect women and girls?
Or how about complete disregard for family-friendly policies? How does consistently voting against paid family leave protect women and girls? How about the repeated refusal by Republican legislators to codify a right to IVF last year...tell me how that protects women and girls?

Apparently, it does.

If the democrats weren’t so progressive last term Harris may very well have won.

The Democratic Party if Maine wanted to Fiiiiiggght!!!! to keep biological males in girls’ sports. Zero Democratic governors of Senators or voters publicly disagreed with her. Trans athletes are a Democratic Party non-negotiable. They want fishing tackle in the girls’ room, badly, for whatever reason. Any Dems here willing to write an Op Ed to the Washington Post begging Democrats to stop endangering our girls like this? No? Didn’t think so.

I’m glad you admit you don’t get it. But I will try to break through.

Harris made it really clear that she supported every Biden policy. She said she wouldn’t change a thing. She also never distanced herself from her prior, more radical takes.

Then, in one of the Biden presidency’s last major moves, Biden (or his progressive staffers, because there is an open question as to whether he had mental competency at that point) effectively rewrote Title IX to clear the way entirely for transwomen in women’s sports. Harris never distanced herself, in fact implicitly endorsed it by her enthusiastic endorsement of all Biden’s actions. It was one of his last major presidential moves, and she said she wouldn’t change a thing.

Harris didn’t have to campaign on men in women’s sports. Her actions told voters what she believed. And voters reacted.

THIS!!! Thank you!!!

It’s not revenge, it’s smart politics. He’s helping remind swing voters that Democrats DO support biological males in girls’ sports and girls’ locker rooms. It’s hilarious. Dems have literally made themselves ridiculous on this issue. Until you back off, you’ll keep having your “preferences” publicized.

There is next to zero risk you will take a hottie to bed and find your girl has a penis. But in the very rare chance you do, it doesn’t make you gay, ok? No harm no foul, no one has to get brutally murdered.

So let’s just leave the girls to live in peace, okay?

Ok crazy.

Biden dropped out, so I don't give a crap about him.
Also, you omit the reason why the Democrats voted the way they did - because less than 10 people does not warrant legislation, that's why. And the bill fizzled out in the Senate anyhow.

So try again. You haven't made a compelling case.

Biden dropped out, yes. And then Harris enthusiastically endorsed everything he had done. So, while you may not give a crap about Biden, it is very clear yours was a minority opinion.

Also, just as an aside, Democrats need to leave the “only ten” talking point. It’s not persuasive and makes people think you are lying.

You still don't have a specific. And as for the "only ten" you think they are lying because you yourself have been lied to to make you believe it's a vast epidemic when it's not.

I’m not sure why “I endorse everything Biden did and wouldn’t change a thing” a few weeks after he drastically rewrote Title IX isn’t specific enough for you, but perhaps you lack the ability to make logical leaps.

Also, here is why “only 10” doesn’t work: People don’t distinguish between NCAA and their local track meets on this issue, so already “only 10” sounds like a lie. And the number of podium spots lost is growing; every widely circulated video of a high school natal boy blowing out the competition makes that number seem even more of a lie. But also, Democrats have traditionally not put a number on fairness. In other words, Democrats have, in the past, put themselves forward as being the party that fights to correct unfairness even if only a few people are hurt by that unfairness. But here, with the “only 10” messaging, Democrats are essentially admitting the situation is very unfair but there aren’t enough people harmed yet for them to care. That is absolutely terrible messaging.

I mean, if the right wing is going to make every instance of a trans female athlete winning it will seem much more common than it is. Every day in America there are thousands of games being played at all levels. Media bias.

I don’t see many right wingers posting about trans male athlete Patricio Manuel who has some early success against cis male boxers. Look at his picture - do you really want your girls sparring with him and sharing a locker room with him?

Look, I’m telling you why your messaging does not work and comes across as gaslighting. You can do what you want with that. Keep losing elections if you want. 🤷

When something goes woke, it turns to sh*t

Show me on the doll where the masks hurt you.

Also, masks and school closings happened under Trump …. Sucks, but you can’t blame Biden.

Now we’re facing stagflation and a recession under Trump. And I just paid $8 for eggs at Giant, so it’s not that “woke” left that is turning things to poop.

It doesn’t matter if you can’t blame Biden they will anyway. This is the crap Trump is focusing on, getting revenge on any slight however small, while the economy keeps going down

People accused of a crime deserve due process.

Sounds like your friend should have gone to the police instead of expecting the school to protect her.

Here's the thing - This is solely about Republican hatred of LGBTQ. It has nothing to do with protecting women. Never did. They'd just as soon defund and get rid of womens sports altogether.

That’s because protecting women was never the goal. It was protecting men against the possibility they might find someone with a penis attractive.
