Trump's Ukraine negotiations already a failure

Anonymous
Trump has shown himself to be a miserable failure of a negotiator. He walked in with a bunch of concessions for Ukraine with barely any demands beyond ceasefire from Putin. Putin then gains the upper hand and demands a bunch of poison pills to any deal. There's no room left for Trump to maneuver. It's a fail. A huge fail.

So much for "art of the deal."

Russia only produces 300-500 tanks a year. This is 3-4 times their loses. In the past 3 year Russia has produced 3 jet fighters. They have been losing fighters at 3-12 a months. Russia will be unable to carry out offensive operations by early 2026.

The US military complex is taking a huge hit as Europe plans to spend billions on production in Europe and move away from US military equipment and systems. Australia is in negotiations to buy French subs and cancel buying US nuclear subs. The cost for US weapons system has increased significantly because the cost will be the US’s a lone. Look at stock prices of US defense contractors vs Europe’s.

Ukraine destroyed two Russian armies and all their equipment 10,000 tanks and 850,000 dead Russians. The Russians did not accomplish any of their objectives.

Russia is not a superpower. Has not been one since the 1980’s. Russia GDP is 2 trillion. The Europe’s GPD is 25 trillion.

Good luck with your Russian propaganda.

According to you Ukraine won and Russia lost. Why is Ukraine negotiating then?
If Russia is so weak, why aren't the Europeans crushing the Russian army and ending this war?

Maybe believing your nonsense makes you feel good. I feel sorry for you.

If not for the U.S. Ukraine would not have survived this long. It's only resulting in more lives lost. Trump is right about that. If they can't negotiate we need to get out of there. Zelensky should have taken the first deal, big mistake.

Why would you assume Putin will stop killing Ukrainians just because the war ends?

Yes. And while the US shut off Ukraine's access to intelligence during Russia's offensive in Kursk, they also made it impossible for Ukraine to use important weapons systems like the HIMARS and F-16s. Republicans are doing an excellent job of destroying the US defense industry. When countries buy weapons from the US, the need to rely on 30 years or so of support, from software updates to maintenance to ordinance. And the US can no longer be relied upon. Portugal already cancelled its order for F-35s. Canada is rethinking its purchases. And Europe just committed to investing $870 billion in its own defense industries rather than rely on the US. Republican moves to undermine the use of American weapons by its allies is going to cost this country trillions over the next couple of decades.

We are not worried at all. They will still buy from us.
Europe can’t afford $870 billion in defense spending. Where is the money going to come from? They will have to make massive cuts on welfare and social benefits. This will not go well.

You should be worried. EU can borrow money. Germany is removing “debt breaks” for defense spending.

Taking more debt for defense spending is economic suicide for the EU. Germany is going into a recession. Time will tell if EU citizens are comfortable with the sacrifices required.

Two of those four articles from your meme argument predate zelensky. In fact coming, zelensky was elected to help clean up the corruption.

And unlike you maga memers, people can sometimes accept that two things are true at once.

Russia is the bad guy, remember? Or have you forgotten already?

Hint: Americans are opposed to Russia and to aligning with Russia. The only one who wants that is Trump. No one else wants that. Russia is the bad guy.

Trump has mandated that Crimea belongs to Russia now...and that is the starting point for the next round of negotiations.

Ukraine clearly won't accept that, so....I guess that puts the US on the other side from Europe as any hostilities intensify.

^ I guess unless one of two things, neither of which seems very likely:

- Putin is more tired of being at war than he lets on and is just looking for a face-saving way to get out, or

- Putin is actually afraid of what happens if the Europeans get more involved

Otherwise, what's in it for him?

Maybe he’s tired of the war but I don’t think he fears anything

It could be a very good opportunity for the Europeans to build their own robust manufacturing capabilities that they export to countries that are too afraid to deal with the US anymore.

Europeans cannot get more involved because they don't have the financial and military resources.
Here are a couple of facts for you.
- Russia produces 3x more artillery munition than the US and Europe combined. When you remove the US that figure jumps to 10x
- Every month, Russia loses more tanks than most European armies have in total.
- Zelensky stated that he said that “at least 200,000” allied troops would be needed to enforce any peace deal in Ukraine. The problem is that Europe wouldn't be able to provide these troops. France has the largest army in Europe with 200k active troops (only about 50k are combat ready). The UK army has 75k active troops.
Europe can't afford to send all of their troops to Ukraine.

Europeans are very limited in what they can do. This is why everyone is looking at the US.
Unfortunately, Trump is siding with Putin.

Have you forgotten WWII and WWII? If Germany sets their mind to it they will do it. EU has no choice but to gear up. Putin won’t stop and Ukraine. And if Russia’s army was so great they would have taken all of Ukraine by now and not needed North Korean troops.

At some point, Republicans need to wake up to the fact that Russia does not negotiate in good faith.

Didn't Ukraine attacked Moscow with drones yesterday during the "ceasefire"? I thought that was a dumb move on their part. What did they expect would happen?

Ukraine was without intel and was getting bombed by Russia when they struck Moscow.

Then the ceasefire happened. Do you know how to negotiate?

DP
I had never heard that Russia agreed to a ceasefire.

Better, we’ve never heard Russia say they want one. And they are sending medically wounded men to the front lines.

Guess that makes for two failed ceasefires and peace deals since Israel/Gaza deal is not off.

Wow Trump got rolled again.

A solid half hour after Trump got Russia to agree to avoid hitting "energy" targets, Russia took out electrictiy in Donesk, Ukraine.

Trump is really bad at this.
