Gene Hackman R.I.P.

This always seems to be the way among certain people. There was a Nextdoor post the other day about a car accident caused by a dog running into the road. ALL of the comments were asking if the dog was ok.

Or she may have been cold and died accidentally by the heater and he found her and was so upset he died. The other dogs I think were found outside and the door was slightly ajar which makes me wonder if they were able to nudge it open. The tragedy is not for him as he lived a long and productive life and enjoyed long good health. It is sad for his wife who was so much younger and that one dog. Well also for his kids and grandkids who didn’t get to say good bye.

Reverse is my guess. I think she found him already dead. He had his cane and sunglasses and was in the mudroom. I bet he collapsed while she was asleep on his way out for a walk. Old people love going out early. She felt terrible for sleeping thru his passing (probably assumed he called for help and she didn’t hear him). She then goes in bathroom, takes pills and turns on space heater to ensure she does not make it. Dog licks spilled pills, gets locked in closet on accident. Front door was open because I bet he either unlocked it before heading to the mudroom or she did hoping someone would find them or to let the doggy out.

The two of you really need to back off. This kind of speculation is so bizarre and inappropriate.

The account I saw estimated both had been dead for approximately 2 weeks.

Good point. I bet the emperor told her to kill Gene and then harakiri herself.

She has been dead for days, perhaps up to over a week already, due to mummification. Found in bathroom. Dead dog in closet.

Gene has only been dead a day or so. Found on floor next to kitchen, sunglasses by his head on the floor.

Front door was ajar. One dog running loose outside, one remained inside alive found near the woman. One dead in closet.

Pills opened and spilled on floor and counter.

No gas leaks. NM gas checked already.

Obvious foul play.

I think the wife died suddenly - stroke or heart attack. Gene Hackman probably had dementia, perhaps left the house at one point and also died suddenly.

(My mom had Alzheimer's and my dad took care of her. Early one morning dad fell and broke his ankle. Even though he was lying on the ground in obvious distress, he could not get my mother to either use the phone herself or give him the phone to call someone. He laid on the ground for hours until my sister happened to call and my dad convinced my mom to hand him the phone.)

This makes the most sense. So sad.

My other theory before reading this and before seeing that they seemed to have died at different times was that he had some sort of medical event and she rushed to get his pills and in her hurry she fell and hit her head, bringing the space heater down with her (the report was not clear on that.) So then he died from whatever the medical event was. And maybe the dog had some pills? But they are so bitter so that seems weird too. You would think that if Hackman were really sick/had dementia that there would be home care staff who would visit the home too but maybe not.

One dog was dead in the bathroom with her. The other 2 were running around inside and out.

You’d think there would be a housekeeper, assistant, landscaper, aide etc someone who would have realized something had happened far sooner.

Yep this makes the most sense. He was 95 so even if he didn’t have dementia, he was probably fragile and she was probably his primary caretaker.
