Sad. Disappointed at these people who call themselves "leaders." Thank you to those who care and are trying. |
Should be on zoom as well. check with CM Friedson's office. |

| What is going to come out of this meeting, folks? |
| Were detector abatement systems discussed? |
| Was it a good turnout? |
| Good turnout. Lots of filibustering and word salad by security chief, and some downright offensive comments about parents needing to step up, followed by increasingly noisy and restive responses from audience. On the plus side audience questions and commentary were effective, particularly the testimony of a girl in her junior year. MCPS’s Peter Moran offered some decent action items at end and promised to send a written update laying them out. Principal was not there and my strong sense is that he will be lucky to finish out the year, and definitely won’t be back for another year. I’ve been to a lot of these sorts of meetings (for more than one mcps school) and don’t say that lightly. |
| The community ate MCPS's lunch. They repeatedly complained that MCPS has no sense of urgency in fixing the security situation and one woman who has a child at an elementary school across the street, listed 6 lockdown/shelter-in-place incidents. Also, the disdain and disgust for Dr. Mooney and his impotent leadership was palpable. |
You have been to a lot of these sorts of meeting? Yikes. In MCPS? |
| Awful meeting. Lots of wasted time introducing panelists. Word salad. No hard commitments just “we will look into in.” No action will be taken and no change will happen until something tragic does and even then …. Honestly I left more worried. Also last years pta lead was amazing. I wish an action oriented person was on the job. |
| Very disappointing meeting. Too many “we are looking into” responses from panelists, or telling parents it’s on us to fix. Getting a consultant or looking into an issue is not acceptable at this point after several years of problems. |
Your turn then to volunteer! |
