Have you lost friends over politics?

Interested in why? Yes. Friends - no.

Having differing opinions of Trump is not the same as having opposing political viewpoints. Trump is not a political viewpoint. We all can agree he sucks as a human being while at the same time we can have opposing opinions on most appropriate income tax code.

yes, but if a "friend" thought after the last 8 years, that voting for anyone except Harris because "of their opinion on the tax code was more important at this point and time" I simply have lost respect for them and don't need to fill my time with people who can be so willing to harm others

I am a left of center moderate and lost a very close high school friend because they bought into the racism and sexism of MAGA. It was a choice between them and the whole rest of my high school cohort, which is comprised of people of all colors and backgrounds. It was not a hard choice.

Good choice---I also don't like to spend time with racists and sexists, so I've always tended to distance myself from them. This time is no different.

Well that’s why the Dems lost the election.

We all lost in this election.

I would stay away from anyone that is explicitly hateful towards any population group (Black, White, men, women, trans people, etc.). If they just say a stupid thing once in a while I'll try to challenge it but generally won't let it affect the relationship but I won't tolerate outright hatred.

I am the PP above how had the high school friend. Yes, it was about the overt hatred they expressed and still express. It wasn't just about differing policy positions etc.

Well that is your choice. But given that my own kids are mixed race, my spouse is brown and many of our friends are "not white", I have a hard time being around people who express racism and the like. Just not the type of people I want to spend time with. So the few people I know who turn out that way tend to disappear from my life.

My MAGA mom just blocked me because she's convinced Elon is co-savior and didn't want to hear otherwise.

I have friends that I have drifted from and choose not to pursue doing things to strengthen the friendship. On the other hand, I have friends that I have grown closer to because of our shared values. These are the people I choose to give my valuable time to.

At this point, it's not as much about politics as it is about wanting to discuss treating all humans well and not being racist towards others.

But I don't like the whole gay race communist hipster style and avoid those people. You know them. The ugly ones with colorful hair, pride flags and signs, and pronouns whenever they sign their name. Get a real personality.

None of what you listed is a threat to you. You understand that, right? People making aesthetic and/or lifestyle choices that don't impact you at all are not a threat to you. You can simply ignore; you don't have to elect people who will try to eliminate them.

Little late for that. Straight white guys haven't been humans for a long while according to DCUM.

So, expect no love in return. You really do reap what you sow. I hope Trump creates all sorts of terror for those that deserve it.

Oh boo hoo. People lose their jobs every day. The one thing I’ve learned over the past week is just how many people were getting paid for unnecessary jobs in this area. Your Father voted for cutting out government bloat, maybe you should have more important skills.

Or maybe you will learn how many people were doing necessary jobs around here and were let go for no rational reason other than a power grab

I’ll go a step farther and say MAGA aquaintances: fine. I play a sport with a wide range of people. I never ask their political
affiliations but some people can’t help themselves. I would never forge a friendship with them because I disagree with everything they stand for but I can certainly be polite when I interact with them and I certainly don’t wish them ill.

There’s a study showing Trumpsters have more unfavorable views of Dems than the reverse…which you can google. I’m not going to do so because you probably won’t believe it anyway.
