You are still refusing to answer my question. We all know why. I’ll bet you’d throw a hissy fit if your boss so much as asked you to make coffee… |
The nannies here aren’t being offered $40 per hour, 3 weeks PTO, and health insurance. They’re being offered $30 per hour with an attitude… surely you can see the difference? |
I’m looking for a girl in housework. Kid stuff. Cooks much, loves Tide. |
Lol I bring coffee for my boss and my staff on a regular basis. Donuts and bagels too. If I were in a line of work which was cleaning adjacent, I would clean too. It’s not that hard millions of mothers do it on a daily basis. Before I could afford a housekeeper and nanny, I cleaned my house, watched 2 small kids and cooked meals from scratch daily. Again if you don’t want to do that, you don’t, I’m just saying it isn’t crazy to expect that domestic help, does domestic help type of work. |
We had someone like this growing up. She was Black and referred to the other Black women on our street who had the same job as “girls.” Not saying it was right, just the times.
In any event, she was truly our Alice and was wonderful. She died a few years ago and we (me and siblings) are still in touch with her family. |
$75 000 still low for a house manager plus nanny and all-and no health stipend ???? Glad she left you! Most house managers make close to 6 figure/year. |
You should hire a full-time housekeeper that drives and likes kids. Do not expect the same level of childcare that a nanny provides. If you want that, get two part-time employees as pp suggests. |
I have one for about 8 hours a day. I’m a SAHM. She cleans, cook simple foods, helps with the kids since they have to be at different places at times. In terms of household management, she will tell me when I need to restock things and run errands like going to the store as needed. It’s great and has made my life so much better. |
Where are you getting this average from? Google housekeeper salary and pick a zip code in the dmv and tell me where the average is $100k? I feel like so many of the domestic services employees over inflate salaries. Are some of them paid that much, but $100k is not the average. |
I know of one couple who have someone doing this. I don't know the details, but it is possible. They are both in non-traditional careers, schedules are all over and involve travel, and they have a baby.
People who need this level of service are paying 6 figures. People inthis position are more than nannies or housekeepers. |
09:17 here.
The person has training and experience in childcare, and has also been a personal assistant. It seems an odd combination of skills. Besides looking after the baby, she maintains the household. Laundry, cleaning, shopping. She also makes travel arrangements. I would love to be that organized. Maybe if someone was paying me 6 figures. |
Wow. You’re a stay at home mom who hired someone to do your job. I gotta give it to you, that’s the dream right there. |
We have someone who works four days a week. She was our five day a week nanny when kids were younger. Now kids are all in elementary school.
We still call her the nanny but she has other responsibilities. She works from about 9:30-5 four days a week. She does a couple of sports drop-offs on her way home in the evenings. Pre-covid, when both parents worked out of the home, she would stay until 6-7 and make dinner for the kids as well. That's no longer needed. During the day, she does laundry, straightens up, and does all of the shopping. She'll do any other errands we ask her to do, but doesn't really come up with things to do on her own. If a kid is home sick, she'll supervise, although at current ages they don't really need supervision, just someone to make lunch, etc. One parent works from home. She does not do any heavy cleaning. She'll wipe down counters, do dishes, vacuum the mudroom/kitchen with a small dyson, and put things away. We pay $78k/year for this schedule, which includes health insurance, every federal holiday, and I think 3 weeks of vacation. You can definitely find people for this kind of work. I think you probably need to exclude heavy cleaning like scrubbing toilets. Hire a cleaning crew for that. It doesn't add much additional expense. |
You aren't paying enough.
I have a friend with a high powered job who has just this. She guarantees her 40 hours a week with a set schedule. Occasionally they move a day around or she tells her not to come in (and she gets a paid day off). She gives her paid vacation and pays benefits. It's very expensive. But the back up help is key to her working her high powered job, so it's well worth it to her. Pay enough, someone will want this job. If you want to pay $15 an hour, you will not find someone who wants this job. |
lol not PP but you are so bitter |
