thank you for the advice

Good God, DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE!!

You are fine, O ye Russian/US Citizen.

If you have white skin, nada problem.

Do not carry your passport!!!!! Lock it up in a safe place!!!

I hope you have a US drivers license, because in the US you are required to carry some form of ID with you, but it's not really enforced.

If you were undocumented and brown-skinned, I would worry. White. Russian. No problem.

No problem until Putin decides he wants his citizens back. Seriously, this administration knows no bounds. We already spent 4 years thinking every day that it couldn’t get worse, there couldn’t be anything more crazy, and yet every day was something else more over-the-top than the last thing. This administration rolled in with the 2025 playbook and an army of people prepared to implement it. OP is right to ask this question.

OP - for right now I wouldn’t be “worried” but I would be alert and do everything to stay off of radar, including not traveling abroad. If this administration gets the deportation machine rolling and the courts don’t immediately reaffirm birthright citizenship then questioning naturalization will also come into play. It’s good to be thinking ahead and have options.

Yes.
I am 4th generation brown person and I am in danger of deportation or if I leave for vacation etc… not get back in.

There are no rules in MAGA land. Funny you think there are.

Yes, carry your papers. WTH how did we get here?

I think you are totally fine, for now. People are coming up with hypotheticals on this thread that have not come to pass. I don’t believe any naturalized citizens have been deported. If and when that happens, reassess your situation. Until then, try to relax!

HAHA...I can't decide if some posters here are being sarcastic or being serious. If the latter, you need to have your head checked. If you're here LEGALLY, you're FINE!

I do hear that citizenship can be revoked for serious crimes. But I don't know about speeding of parking violations. It's going to cost millions to go back decades and review everybody's citizenship applications, not to mention time. Trump and his followers will not live long enough to see the last illegal immigrant leave the US or a complete review of all naturalized citizens application files. Do they still keep applications after a few decades? There seems to be plenty of scaremongering going on, which is a shame.
they do t have to go through all of them. They can have a preselected list, or a random audit. Who knows with what Stephen miller has in mind in carrying this action piece out.

It makes me wonder though, if there was any sort of problem with the original applications, why were they allowed to be naturalized in the first place?

Anecdote, but a friend working in a fraud division under DHS agency said that Mayorkas basically had officers looking the other way and pretending not to see fraud in a number of cases, so they were moved forward and got the rubber stamp. They are probably still ok some kind of list or with some kind of marker, at least if granted green card in the last few years.

People who have not committed crimes or fraud do not have anything to worry about. So much fear-mongering everywhere.

Well I became naturalized back in 2001, way before Mayorkas. Before then I was a green card holder for 5 years. Am I now supposed to be worried that perhaps I made an honest mistake on my application paperwork? To be honest, as much as having to deal with immigration again would be a bother, I can't allow myself to be concerned with Trump and his policies. Whatever happens happens.

That was a long time ago. If they are reviewing paperwork, it will probably be applications approved while Biden was in office.

Russian? Not likely. You are probably white and frankly, trump doesn't care about illegal white people. Just brown and black.

Minus the passport

If you do not have a passport you will be immediately deported.

If you're white, then no.

If you're brown or even too tan, then possibly.

That's a crazy comment. I know quite a few US citizens, born and raised here that don't have passports.
