Thoughts on George Washington?

My point was, it was ridiculous advice. Obviously anyone would choose Georgetown over GW. The problem is Georgetown is very hard to get into, whereas GW is not. Your advice is comparable to... choose Harvard over BU. Yeah, no s*** sherlock.

So... I know people might disagree with me, but Georgetown is not as strong as it once was. I have relatives who graduated from Georgetown and love it, so I'm not biased against that school. But George Washington is doing all it can to close the gap, except for Elliott/International Affairs, where it doesn't need to: the Elliott school has been well respected in the foreign affairs community for years, just as much as Georgetown SFS.

Point is, I don't have PP's knee-jerk reflex of holding Georgetown far above GW.

Our kid is a prospective business major & they had impressive facilities & opportunities. We also visited AU and none of us liked it at all. AU is on the edge of the city (no access to transit, nothing around it that would be appealing for a young person). Seems like its funding is not great (any kind of google search will reveal issues with enrollment and finances) and lacks access to the best parts of being in DC. It has a beautiful quad, but other than that I would not have my kid apply there. To each their own, of course!

Our DC applied to Gtown but not the other 2. Was opposed to urban campus, wanted a green quad & college feel.

How does AU which has constant shuttles to the metro have no access to transit?

GW grads are making recruiters drop the school from their visit lists.

Maybe the shuttles actually aren’t running reliably.
Another vote here for GW, and mention that those who want a more traditional campus can choose to live on the Vern - they get Lyft vouchers monthly and the vex van does run reliably

My non-Jewish Asian/European kid attends GW and hasn't noticed this particularly. Maybe because we come from an area with Jewish families? It's all relative. There are kids from all over the world.

This must have changed, bc my student has same view as above - not a lot of Jewish kids but yes a lot if international kids
