Who is more responsible for this Democrat train wreck

I do not think Americans wanted Trump more in 2024; a perfect storm of a feeble and delusional self righteous president and a party that cannot manage anything led to where we are today.

I disagree. If Americans didn't want Trump and viewed him as compromised, they had a perfect alternative: Nikki Haley in the Republican primaries. She's intelligent, qualified, sane, articulate, and in all ways a great conservative candidate. She, too, lost badly to Trump.

The narrative that any halfway decent candidate would have beaten Trump, but Harris/Biden/DNC messed up is an incorrect one. A lot of people very much wanted Trump.

Or, a lot of people didn't want a woman (Clinton, Harris & Haley) despite being vastly more qualified.

They are though. Look at the data. Every single state in America became more Republican in 2024. All 50. Democrats didn't turn a single congressional district from Trump to Harris.

This was a catastrophic election for Democrats.

Democrats lost for two reasons. One is Biden - yet another boomer geriatric who was all ego and f*cked over everyone, similar to RBG and so many others from that era. And progressives made things impossible with all their garbage - from soft on violent crime, to gender pronouns, to LatinX, to closing schools for nearly two years, and on and on with their misplaced priorities.

When was the last time you heard a progressive talk about the economy or health care or climate?

Boomer egos and progressive morons are responsible for the train wreck.

Pretty much sums it up. Plus inflation and Trump being exceptionally charismatic and strong - that post-attempted assassination photo.

This goes outside of Democratic narratives about the media and Trump so I am sure it will be unpopular to say, but the obvious and blatant media bias against Trump actually made Trump a more sympathetic underdog type figure that improved his public image. The Democrats over the top pursuit of him through the courts also helped him. Who’s fooling who when he catches 34 felonies for 1 hush money payment? It’s so ridiculously over the top that people sided with Trump after its why he got more popular after his conviction.

I don’t think so. I thought there would be a change among Democrats and particularly progressives but it turns out that they are a long way from hitting bottom.

The best current example of how detached Democrats are from public opinion is their response to the Hunter pardon. The average person thinks it stinks. The average Democrat will yell at you with 5 different and contradictory rationales about why it’s good and just actually.

They still need to make pretense about moral high ground when arguing that might makes right. Trump makes the same case, but at least he doesn’t do it cloaked in some pretense about his moral superiority.

Everyone sees through this but Democrats.

I originally blamed the DNC for “anointing” HRC in 2016; then (basically) doing the same in 2020 for Biden. Not that the primary slate in 2020 was that great so I get why they promoted him.
And obviously he won. So DNC got it right.
Really, after the debate, Biden was defiant and pissed for a month or so then drops out. Biden basically dictating Harris as his replacement and DNC goes along with it, then DNC blows through all the money and loses.
Now this pardon thing for 11 years is kind over the top to me - for the crimes he was convicted for fine, but anything not even charged yet for over decade seems excessive.

I want to blame the DNC for not making sure Biden would not run again but now I think they could not control a sitting president who is (basically) an arrogant ass.
So frustrating that it is like a comedy of errors that somehow seems to be getting worse when there literally is no election or major events to screw up.

I now think the Biden name should be banned from the Democratic Party for life.

The far left woke crap pulled us off the rails.

y sin

The only people to blame for the incoming orange train wreck are the misogynistic-racist idiots who voted for someone who does not give a crap about the American people-he ran to get out of being held accountable for a life of crime.

Um, yeah they are stupid. They elected a vindictive narcissist who incited an insurrection.

Disagree. The voters have almost no control over the top Presidential candidates. I don’t think anyone I ever voted for in a primary was the final nominee, except Obama in 2008.
Trump should have never been legally allowed to run again. That’s a huge failure of the system, not the voters.

PP again. And saying voters are dumb, well they are dumb because of a failed education system and lack of standards for the media.

Amen sister. Amen.

DP. Thanks for confirming my view that the primary responsibility for why Democrats lost lies with rank and file Democrats like yourself.

After that it’s Biden (ego), then Harris (lied about Biden condition and then benefited with nomination without a primary and then ran a poor campaign that treated donors like chumps), the party leaders that forced Biden out too late and then rallied around Harris in the palace coup, and then the DNC.

You are proving PP’s comment.

Voters who base their vote on anonymous comments from a mommy website ARE dumb AF.

That’s for sure.

No. Win elections, don’t ban your political opponents. Doing so would have never been seen as legitimate and made the polarization in our country even worse than it is. Absolutely totalitarian mindset.

The "media" is not democratic, not by a long shot. Just compare how it covered Biden's pardoning of Hunter to Trump's pardoning of Bannon/Stone. Compare how it covered Hunter Biden's "crimes" to the total ignoring of Ivanka and Jared's raping of the federal treasury, much less the actual graft of the Trump45 Administration.

No, the country has been poisoned by Rush and Hannity and everything since.

The media is upset with Biden’s pardon because it is so damaging to the Democrat brand. NY Times, June 2024:

“For nearly four years, Republicans have delved into the darkest corners of Hunter Biden’s life, seeking to tie his troubles to his father, President Biden. But as the younger Biden stands trial in Delaware on gun charges, the case’s glaring political contradictions have rendered the G.O.P. largely mute, from former President Donald J. Trump on down.

It stands to reason: The baseless claim that the Biden Justice Department is running a political persecution of Mr. Trump is somewhat undermined by the department’s prosecution of the president’s son.“

The slanted media loved the charges because it gave ammunition to the idea that the feds were impartial and fair. The pardon does away with all that and makes the party look bad. THAT’s why the media is antagonistic towards Biden’s decision.

She knew Joe was incapable of four more years. She should have intervened well in advance to allow him to bow out gracefully and retain his dignity.

Then the contenders could battle it out. Harris would have been rejected IMO. Not sure who would have emerged as the candidate.
