I disagree. If Americans didn't want Trump and viewed him as compromised, they had a perfect alternative: Nikki Haley in the Republican primaries. She's intelligent, qualified, sane, articulate, and in all ways a great conservative candidate. She, too, lost badly to Trump.

The narrative that any halfway decent candidate would have beaten Trump, but Harris/Biden/DNC messed up is an incorrect one. A lot of people very much wanted Trump.

It is reality - more people simply wanted Trump than anyone either party put forward.

The media is always protecting Democrats. They pretended Biden was fine when they knew he wasn't, as did the rest of the party.
Biden could have stepped down in 2023, but he believed the polls that said he would win(of course none of you readers ever do that).

Really, after the debate, Biden was defiant and pissed for a month or so then drops out. Biden basically dictating Harris as his replacement and DNC goes along with it, then DNC blows through all the money and loses.

The problem is Democrats haven't had an open primary since 2008. Even in 2008, the media stepped in and heavily favored Obama. Democrats can blame messaging all they like, but Democrats haven't had a real debate about issues in a generation. That's why they keep losing to a gross, grifting reality show host. Hillary lost because her campaign didn't understand the rules, and Bill didn't bother to tell them. She won the popular vote in the primary, with asterisks, but lost big because she ignored the caucuses, and then the superdelegates all switched to Obama.

What I'm reading now is that the DNC wanted to have a "lightning-round" primary after Joe dropped out but he screwed them by endorsing Kamala immediately on Twitter...
Now, does anyone actually believe that Joe's shaky, octogenarian thumbs were actually pecking out his own tweets?? I always assumed his Twitter was run by some staffer. Or maybe Jill? Who's actually to blame there?

Biden is a figurehead, non compos mentis. It's the radicalized DNC staffers around him that went far to the left that are to blame. The DNC brand is shot.

It isn't the lack of getting out the message and policies, it's that people did not like the radical message itself.

DP. Thanks for confirming my view that the primary responsibility for why Democrats lost lies with rank and file Democrats like yourself.

After that it’s Biden (ego), then Harris (lied about Biden condition and then benefited with nomination without a primary and then ran a poor campaign that treated donors like chumps), the party leaders that forced Biden out too late and then rallied around Harris in the palace coup, and then the DNC.
