The entire American political strategy is to use propaganda to the extreme. The entire system is broken and what one celebrity says isn’t going to make a difference. |
It's about showing integrity. It's also about selling tickets and if the movie does far worse than expected it will hurt her career. Fortunately her singing and acting seem to strong enough they may outweigh everything else. From what I've read, even though some found her cringe-worthy on social media and in interviews, the actual movie is pretty good. |
Why should an actor have “integrity”? We don’t expect it of anyone else, not even our president. Makes zero sense that everyone else is allowed to express their beliefs on social media but for some reason celebrities aren’t. |
Sock puppeting here. Step off jerk. None of us like you. I'd rather she be Snow White than one of you repressive anti woman freaks. |
Cheezus, you've really outed yourself here. Get back to destroying democracy and promoting a convicted felon who is a dumb as a box of rocks and as crazy as a rabid hippo. |
I was actually planning to post the link to Ricky Gervais's Golden Globes speech b/c it is so evergreen. It's particularly irritating because actors are just one component of an art form that writers, directors, costume designers, make up artists (the list is endless) direct their own talents onto to produce a product the contributes to either the entertainment or education (or both) of the viewer. They are literally conduits for the message and fairy tales in particular are precious vessels for universal human truths that need to be retold from generation to generation. So it's an abuse of their position when actors use the fame they get by virtue of their public-facing role to virtue-signal--and that's the only thing that political messaging in this capacity is regardless of whether you agree with her or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgson2Q3nog |
She is young, and for a successful career in acting, I would think you need to navigate different political environments every 4-8 years so better play nice. |
You express it so much better than I did. Completely agree with you. |
Ricky Gervais was and is so great! He is right about Hollywood, Zegler, and most of the under 30 crowd. They all just need to shut up and fu*k off; no one wants to hear their uninformed pseudo-political BS. |
Nobody likes the live action movies. They've all been horrible. |
I will see the film because of her. Yes please. |
I guess Disney has her doing some damage control:

I read some place they aren't letting her do interviews or press anymore. She needs coaching desperately. Gal Gadot has strong political opinions, but she knows how to be classy and respectful and her views are well articulated. #Free Palestine does nothing to help the Palestinian people. It's just a trendy phrase. She needs to show an understanding of the conflict, the governments involved and the complexity and be able to articulate your thoughts without trendy phrases. In the end it doesn't matter what I alone think. It's about the Disney executives and the public. |
Most of us expect integrity from others. Many of us have jobs where we are careful what we post on social media or we simply are not on social media because we know the importance of behaving in a professional manner. If anything the standard seems to be lower for celebrities and quite a bit is forgiven. |
Total miscast. Wrong hair, skin and eye color and no curves. Dont care if Disney wants her to be he next Zendaya. Don’t care how well she sang in Hunger Games either. Snow White. Ugh. |
