Oh yeah. Rachel Zegler is such a Hispanic name. ![]() I don't think I have ever seen or heard her outside of the Hunger Games prequel she did. I could stand in that or the previews for West Side Story. And she's very plain. I'm not a fan. But this version of Snow White also looks like a train wreck - the dwarves are terrifying. Gal Gadot is somehow miscast. Hard pass. |
The character is a German princess named for “having skin as white as snow” and being “the fairest in the land.” Zegler does not fit the description of the character. I believe she is only 1/4 Colombian, but she has a very Hispanic/mestizo phenotype and is not believable as Snow White, imo. |
I saw her on Broadway in December. She was the lead in Romeo and Juliet, and she was amazing! |
Take your own advice. I was responding to the PP who said “who has heard of the Dixie Chicks in the last 15 years” to which I said everyone that saw them at the sold out show at Jiffy Lube! Let me guess… you’re on the maga train and hate anyone who Fox News tells you to. |
She’s going to be Evita in London soon!! Please someone film it for those of us who can’t get to London to see her! |
Do you have a phrenological assessment to go with this? |
Lol! When i was a little girl and there was literally no Asian representation in Disney cartoons except duplicitous siamese cats in 101 Dalmations, i identified with Snow White because i thought she was East Asian. I mean, there are not as many white people with jet black hair than there are Koreans. |
The quasi animation of the Seven Dwarfs is pretty strange looking. Dopey especially is a jump scare, like a demented Keebler Elf. |
She is incredibly talented, but she needed more time to mature and learn to behave in a professional manner. I think people will be reluctant to hire her.
I have such mixed feelings about minors getting into show business. (Didn't she start at age 16?) She is still stuck in adolescence in part because she didn't get to complete ir properly. She also needed more experience in the working world to appreciate what she has and get feedback from supervisors about professionalism. |
I mean, a movie about a German being the fairest in the land because of how white they are really isn’t appropriate in this day and age (and in fact the Nazis weaponized Brothers Grimm fairy tales). Fairy tales as a whole age very poorly and need to be adapted to the modern day. Most are extremely violent and have tragic endings. I’m 100% German and Scandinavian, and have zero problems with appearances deviating from the standard pale skin/blue eyes/blonde hair etc. We’ve been represented long enough, it’s time for other people to have a chance to shine. I’m actually quite happy as H and DD are LatinX, so DD gets both sides of her heritage in this movie. |
Pretty sure that's illegal. |
So any public figure should not be allowed to have a social media platform—like the rest of us—and should not be allowed to use it as they see fit—like the rest of us? |
I’m excited to see this movie with my kids! |
+1. Celebrities should have the same rights as everyone else. Of course we’re allow to not see their movies if we disagree with them, but the under-25 crowd (who fuels Hollywood) generally doesn’t care what celebrities say on social media. |
I like What Ricky Gervais said at the Golden Globes back in 2020 about the hypocrisy of woke stars lecturing the public. She really is not in a position to try to influence anyone regarding world politics and she has a lot to learn. She can also cause harm by promoting propaganda. She has the freedom to do as she pleased and the public can react accordingly. Also companies can chose not to deal with her. That said, sadly the under 25 crowd can be extremely gullible when it comes to Tiktok and listening to woke celebrities so i disagree that they don't care what celebrities say on social media. She has tremendous talent and hopefully she will take some time away at some point to mature. |
