Best ways to get to Madison

If Madison is considered "middle of no where," I'd be curious to know what you consider Urbana-Champaign. Or Iowa City. Or Bloomington. Or State College.

They all are "in a city where once you leave it is rural". So is UVA and Va Tech and many other schools. Madison is less so, IMO, because it is 90 mins from Milwaukee and 2-2.5 from Chicago.
