A national abortion ban: what logistically has to happen?

No one cares what Trump says. He doesn't tell the truth so stop paying attention to that. He overturned Dobbs. That's what he did.

Let's sum what the effects of overturning Dobbs. The drama has been much less than promised, even muted. States like Kansas and Ohio rejected abortion ban legislation.

So, far we've even made progress on acceptance.

Counter intuitive I know. Maybe it really was a bad ruling made by activist judges and held hostage to play political football by the left when it was really just a nothing burger of an issue.

"I have a special bank account with the money to fly to Canada in the event she does get pregnant and wants an abortion"

This is redundant. Lots of us have special bank accounts for all sorts of things we can't involve a spouse in. You can also still fly to many US states and still get an abortion.

Just be aware that it's a falsehood that you can fly to any 'democratic state' and get an elective abortion up to the 9th month.

That's all pure dark fairy tales.

Except for those women dying or the various other women being charged for miscarriages or the Texas bounties or...

All these republican "christian" men seem good with bombing a school full of girls. Ahh the pro-lifers. Fine with war and murder but still worried about other peoples bodies.

Since the USSC said abortion was a state matter, can Feds try to supercede that?

I am long past the childbearing age and my daughter decided long ago that she does not want children
Nevertheless, I have a special bank account with the money to fly to Canada and to pay for an abortion in the event she does get pregnant and wants an abortion. No woman should be forced to have a baby she doesn't want. I will add that I have no interest in the weeping and wailing of those of you who weep over a few cells. Mind you bodies and leave the rest of us alone!

As trump does not need to worry about being reelected (assuming he doesn't declare himself president for life) he won't need to pander to the religious right and a national ban on abortion will not be important to his agenda.

Why not just make sure that she has access to birth control

Birth control can fail. Or are you suggesting PP’s daughter get her tubes tied

How does birth control fail?

A guy doesn't put the condom on right. It slips off. Sperm goes everywhere.

A woman gets sick while on BC pills and takes antibiotics, then has sex while still on antibiotics but while feeling better. Or, if you have norovirus or something similar and throw up your dose for a few days. I know two friends who got pregnant with "whoops" babies this way.

I would assume that Trump and friends want as many unwanted kids around as humanly possible for all sorts of reasons.

And, even if used properly most birth control is not 100% effective (most are upper 90s in percentage). It's just simple math. Thus having Plan B and other methods for those rare edge cases. I think "How does birth control fail?" poster needs some remedial family planning classes.

Also women with wanted pregnancies sometimes get devastating news and choose abortion to protect their health and future fertility. My friend and her husband badly wanted their first but she found out at her 20 week scan he was slowly dying inside her. Waiting put her at risk for sepsis, they likely wouldn't have been able to have their toddler had the doctors not given her prompt care.

Women in Texas have been forced to the edge of death in her situation and been permanently damaged.

I bet the administration would absolutely love to bring back orphanages. They'd stuff all these unwanted kids in there, give them a few years of Bible school so that's the only damn book they'll sort of ever read, and then put them to work, teaching them to be slaves for the billionaire bros. All these ugly people pushing for this aren't standing up for the Christian beliefs. They want slaves.

It's important to note mifepristone is also used to treat incomplete miscarriages as well (women who have miscarried but their bodies haven't fully expelled everything which can lead to serious health complications).

I am old enough to remember being told to stop the histrionics over this issue because it would never happen.

This is huge, huge news and neither the Washington Post nor NYT seems to be covering this. What is going on that this isn’t front page news?

One more step towards Project 2025 with more danger for women.

My BF's condom got stuck in me in college and, thus, failed. I have many friends who took BC and it didn't prevent pregnancy. I have another friend get pregnant with an IUD (leading to a pregnancy and a medical emergency for her).

It happens.
