A national abortion ban: what logistically has to happen?

Trump wouldn’t sign it but even if he did, scotus would over rule it. Abortion is a state not inter-state/federal issue.

Can you explain to me, honestly, why you believe Trump and the GOP? What is it that inspires this blind loyalty in the face of what his advisors have literally said they intend to do, just because a man who lies like he breates told you it's not the plan?

There really only are 2 options. Either you all are woefully uninformed or unable to connect the dots on these issues OR you're despicable immoral people who know exactly what they voted for. You guys lose it when people correctly label support for these policies as racist, misogynist, and bigoted, but you also lose it when people assume you must be stupid. I just can't figure out. Are you stupid or evil?

lol with your good faith questioning! “Have you stopped beating your wife?”

It's a valid question. Let's make it easier: do you actually believe him or not?

SCOTUS didn't say abortion is a state issue. Why do you think that? Who told you that?

The filibuster is toast, sorry to tell you. Rules and ethics were on the ballot and America said "No thanks."

You can say that all day long but I won’t hold my breath and neither should you. There’s a reason it never happens. Senators know that next time they’ll be the ones using it.

More lies. Rs will do whatever they can to get what they want. Precedent and consequences be damned.

Yes and no here, dealing with not “rights” but “negative rights”, which most of the bill of rights is. Since they ruled that there is no constitutional right, the 10th amendment kicks in, therefore, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

10th Amendment was fitted and worked around over 79 years ago. It has extremely small scope now.

What would need to happen is first Democrats would have to sign off on the idea of a federal law that dictates abortion policy to the nation. Kamala Harris advocated for this but it never passed or came close. Once that happens, Republicans would be free to do the same. People who are pro-life but hesitant to pass a federal law would then be willing to do so(except the ones who are really pro-choice and pretending for votes).

And that's all they need because those in power have the resources to get their pregnant wives, daughters, female relatives, and most importantly, mistresses to those blue states for abortions.

A ban will never happen because male politicians love extramarital affairs and those affairs usually entail an abortion or two with some hush money. Tale as old as time.

Sexless Texas. Just get yourself a vibrator and your husbands and boyfriends blow up doll ladies if you're down there in Texas.

Well once they roll back marital rape laws, they might not have much say in whether they're having sex or not. Enjoy the consequences of your actions!

Did you know marital rape laws are a state issue - and even in Maryland it is only illegal by force. So a husband can drug his wife and have sex with her.

Or every man he invites, like that French guy.

Ummm ok. If you must know, that gives a brief history and shows how and under what circumstances it can and can’t be applied.

FYI- please don’t ever send anyone a Wikipedia article as your basis for a constitutional argument.

Since the USSC said abortion was a state matter, can Feds try to supercede that?

I am long past the childbearing age and my daughter decided long ago that she does not want children
Nevertheless, I have a special bank account with the money to fly to Canada and to pay for an abortion in the event she does get pregnant and wants an abortion. No woman should be forced to have a baby she doesn't want. I will add that I have no interest in the weeping and wailing of those of you who weep over a few cells. Mind you bodies and leave the rest of us alone!

As trump does not need to worry about being reelected (assuming he doesn't declare himself president for life) he won't need to pander to the religious right and a national ban on abortion will not be important to his agenda.

As a political matter a national abortion ban would be suicide. Are you people serious with this stuff?

This country just committed national suicide on Tuesday. God speed.

Abortion is gone. They will ban mifepristone. Then Comstock gets enforced. Next is the morning after pill. But hey ladies, you voted him in.

Democrats probably should pass a federal law banning abortion after 15 weeks, explicitly pre-empting and state laws. That would make abortion legal later than most of Europe, preempt states like Utah from banning it at less than 15, and be extremely popular with voters, and Reps could spin it that they were actually prohibiting late-term abortions. No need for a court to legislate from the bench, and the public gets what most want.

Trump has no qualms about breaking a promise. He has broken his marriage vows as often as he changes his diaper.

Yeah, America is a patriarchal country that doesn't value women. This isn't news to me. Men are dangerous and they made it crystal freaking clear on Tuesday.

Read the majority ruling and its discussion of this being an issue for elected representatives, and then recognize that abortions are not an interstate issue. It’s not hard to understand.
