Cycling is bad for the economy and bike lanes should be stopped

I suspect the indignant looks you attract have more to do with the fact that you're a jerk who is unabashedly ignorant of the law.

They're a jerk for not hitting the bicyclist? That's an odd definition.

It is also ironic since you are the one that seems unabashedly ignorant. Bicyclists are only allowed to blow stop signs if the intersection is clear.

The law (https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/laws/24-214) specifies that right of way should be yielded to traffic lawfully using the intersection. Obviously that doesn't apply to those drivers who roll through stop signs.

But if, after coming to a full stop at an intersection, you proceed forward and come into conflict with a cyclist or any other user, that person should give way to you.

I’d settle for a law that is enforced that says all cyclists have to obey traffic laws.

Drivers by and large do not obey traffic laws. Neither do pedestrians for that matter. Why the obsession with cyclists?

Things That Didn't Happen.

In general, however, I do think it's telling that the one or two bicycle-hatred posters on DCUM are focused on the fit of men's clothing. If it were truly just about bicycle hatred, they wouldn't care about the clothing or the gender of the people on the bicycles..

One crashed into the front of my car and took off before I could get out and asked if he was okay. I looked over my damage and didn't see much but what did I see laying on the pavement. His wallet. Packed with money, credit cards and an ID with a home address.

The appropriate thing to do here is to call in a hit and run so that the cyclist catches a felony.

dont forget cycling destroys your balls so you can no longer have children, which is lowering the birthrate

Bike lanes actually are bad for the economy because they make it harder for the vast majority of people to move about the city. As has been pointed out many, many times, people avoid going to areas of the city where it's hard to drive and park. You may not like that, but that's the reality. People do not give up cars just because you take away parking spaces or try to create traffic jams. They just go elsewhere.

It's amusing bicyclists apparently see themselves as pictures of health. I see a lot of fatties on two wheels.

I saw a cyclist flying through a four way stop with cars at every other stop sign and he had a kid on his bike! Drivers honked and he acted like they were the *sshole. That kid is going to end up dead because his dad is a moron.

The Tyson’s thread has DC people talking about how it is convent for them to drive all the way out to Tysons to shop.

I would think that DC policy makers would want to keep that money in DC. I guess not.

I have seen this before a couple times. Guys on e-cargo bikes doing very dangerous things with their kids on the back.

You are the source of the danger. Please keep your eyes on the road when you're driving.

I saw a woman on a bike with a basket in the front that had an INFANT in it. She should have been arrested.
