| She is the worst! I can't even listen to her on that forum. They seem to get a handle on the echo as it goes on. |

This is an excellent video of the city council candidate forum. Celianna Gunderson is wonderful and goes first, then Mason Bulter, and Boyd. Very helpful hearing where they stand. Please remember you don't have to vote for 6 you can vote for just one, two or three, but no need to vote for six.
The City of Alexandria guaranteed income program NEEDS TO GO. Celianna Gunderson addresses this: https://delraycitizens.org/2024/10/october-2024-city-council-candidate-forum |
There is a transgender candidate (Charlotte Scherer) and another lbgtq candidate as well. Do you think that's going to work for their advantage too? |
They lost in the primary and aren't on the ballot any more. James Lewis ran last time, too, and it seems that if Democratic voters are going to pick a gay candidate for Council, they prefer McPike to Lewis. Maybe because McPike seems more in-line with the dominant Wilson-style policies than Lewis, who is all over the map? Charlotte Scherer might have ended up in sixth place if she hadn't gone hard on the NIMBY / Silberberg policy positions that tend to lose Alexandria Democratic primaries. |
Celianna Gunderson is still on the ballot though. I agree I still thought James Lewis was going to get a seat along with McPike. I wonder how many write in's there will be. |
| Gunderson is a Republican. Republicans are the party of Trump. I will never vote for any Republican under any circumstances. January 6 can never be forgiven. |

Rediculous totally rediculous. I bet you have no clue where she stands on any issues. Total ignorance. Its sad. |
Electing Rs at the local level give them the experience they need to run for statewide and national office. I won't be doing that favor for anyone associated with the party of Trump. But I'm pretty disgusted with many of the D candidates this time around and will be giving hard thought to the independent candidates. |
| James Lewis seemed like he would do a good job representing and listening to the citizens of Alexandria. It's a bummer he didn't make it through the primary. There is a big problem with the way Alexandria does it's elections. |

In my experience, the most responsive member of the Council to questions and opinions I’ve sent in is the mayor, followed by Gaskins, McPike and Bagley. Jackson and Aguirre never respond to anything. Chapman usually just responds with platitudes.
I think too many people in Alexandria think “listening to the community” means doing whatever the most people who show up at a public hearing want. |
| Ha. Wilson and Gaskins respond but always with non answers. |
| The Alex Times Voter guide is out. This is always helpful and also features a graph showing where the candidates stand on the issues at hand! |
Then what would you think listening to the community means? If someone or a group of people is going to organize and go out of their way to attend a long, boring public hearing at City Hall on a Saturday I should hope that city council will "listen" to them! |
And with Wilson, if he disagrees with you, he will either act like he doesn’t understand your question or belittle your position. I don’t really have an issue with his policy positions but I am glad he is leaving due to his personal demeanor. |
