The only people who refer to “dookies” are UNC grads. And jealous.

Stanford alum here. We also call it dookies

Sad.

Thanks. Vandy on the list but others not quite academically appealing to DC. Lehigh ahead of Wake, Miami and Tulane.

Find the post strange. Lehigh is a decent school but mainly a safety at 37 percent admissions. The rest of these schools are 20 percent and below and Tulane is 11. Also not sure the hate on public schools which are. starting to be viewed more favorably than Ivys. Is this a first child? You may have to understand that the snobbiness is not going to be helpful and everyone has a smart kid around here so that is really not special. Sorry.

lol. Try the last 2 years at Lehigh well below 37% and closer to 20

NP. This is a conversation happening now with one of my kids. Several of his academic peers say any public school, including UVA and Michigan, are not good enough because they are public and have to let lots of “lesser” students in. Or some such drivel.

I'd take the typical strong student at UVA, Michigan, VT and UMD over Wash U. Tufts, Emory and Rochester any day of the week

Do they know that top companies are now recruiting from publics more than privates? I guess not, since the kids' career goal is obviously TikTok nepo baby. Rags to rags in how many generations?

They don't because it's not true. Companies are recruiting from privates and publics as they have always done.

I never had interest in Duke, so no jealousy

That said, they are the rudest fans I have ever run across and people I have met who attended are incredibly arrogant.

Last cycle acceptance rate was 26 percent which makes it a reasonable target, low reach for op’s kid, who desperately needs to build out that part of his list.

I think Duke is rah rah for men's basketball, but not really past that. Loyal alumni in the Ivy League sense, though.

Does he realize that if he goes to Duke he will still spend most of his free weekends in Chapel Hill?
