Frustrated with ‘liberal’ friends who are so very insular and intolerant.

And how do you know this is what all of these people believe?

PP didn't say anything about "all of these people" or what they believe. PP is referring to the people who "need" assault weapons more than they care about kids being slaughtered.

Please refer to the increased sales in semi-automatic weapons after each mass shooting.

I am a democrat, but I find the party to be pretty insufferable right now. Remember, nearly 50% of the country supports Trump. How is it helpful to tell 50% of the country that they can't think and that they are racists? That If they vote republican, democracy will die? If democrats stopped to think themselves, they would realize that these sweeping stereotypes and generalizations alienate a lot of the country and voters.

Its especially annoying when I'll point out that maybe Dems would be more successful electorally (something I want because the GOP is horrifying and also because I share many/most Democratic policy goals) if there was less scorn from many in the party toward people who are not coastal, UMC, and highly educated, I am ALSO viewed with suspicion. Or if I say "yes I share your goal of making society less dependent on fossil fuels, but I don't think we can realistically convert most car drivers in Nebraska (where I'm from) to e-bikes," then I'm probably MAGA too.

Sometimes the groupthink and cliquishness on the left is as bad as the right, even if the underlying ideas are way better. It's the better of two bad options but yes it sure is annoying sometimes.

I’m with you.
Dems need to work harder to understand and reach all corners of the party, and to think much more about economic issues and how they impact people who aren’t coastal elite. This board is a great example of being out of touch, when people are whining that they don’t have more than $1 or $2 million in their 401k.

So this.

My favorite recent post was ‘can I retire on 10m?’ And then people debating it.
I mean, really. So out of touch.

So people can't discuss their own personal financial situation because someone else might get triggered by it?

The irony of this thread.

I am intolerant of (labeled "other ") Using a label when you're talking about other people shows that you are also intolerant.

FALSE - less than 1/3rd of US adults voted for Trump.

Should we pretend like Trump isn't a risk to democracy (or women/lgbtq/poc/etc) just because it might hurt someone's feelings?

There is not a single valid reason to vote for Trump. Why sugar coat it?

Same. My friends from Seattle are intolerable with their performative displays of being ultra liberal at this point. Covid was a LOT.

And why would you think somebody who is concerned about retiring with $10 million is a "liberal"? I know a lot of rich MAGAs. And once I know are pretty self righteously rich. They vote For Trump because of the tax breaks for the rich. They do not care about the common person.

Also, we told her children shoes, your friends, wisely.

What you were saying is you want my only 5 to 10 friends To include people who tried to overthrow the government? Doesn’t go against everything we tell our kids.

Choose your friends wisely and if that means being friends with people that believe the world is flat go for it.

That's not even remotely what OP said but good job proving OP's point!

Can’t you just go back to hating Taylor Swift and vaccines ?

I love Taylor Swift and vaccines and will canvas for Harris in PA. I just don't like YOU.

Ditto. I will continue to be insular (pick good intelligent and kind friends who don't hate and want to take away right from women/LGBT/etc) and intolerant of ignorance (the earth is not flat, bleach can't be injected), hate (I don't particularly like Pence but don't think he should be hung) and racism (there are not good people on both sides, sorry not sorry).

Enjoy your silent majority stance.

+1

Except it's not a "majority". Rs suck at math.

My dh was true blue liberal, we laughed how we cancelled each others vote every year! He finally came to me one day and said he could not put up with our Bethesda life any longer. His description was it felt phony and the people blew with the wind with their allegiance. We have no family here, started over with our children. Took pay cuts but my god is our life so much more genuine and quite simply, happier. Travel back and forth to dc due to our industry and work and hate it more and more. Sadly most of the people in dc don’t get what a joke they are to the people looking in, no self reflection at all.

You hate all one group of people and yrt you sre guilty of the very thing you claim you hate about liberal women. I suppose liberal men get a pass, right? Why do you hate women? You are no better.
