Frustrated with ‘liberal’ friends who are so very insular and intolerant.

Also, we told her children shoes, your friends, wisely.

What you were saying is you want my only 5 to 10 friends To include people who tried to overthrow the government? Doesn’t go against everything we tell our kids.

Choose your friends wisely and if that means being friends with people that believe the world is flat go for it.

That's not even remotely what OP said but good job proving OP's point!

Can’t you just go back to hating Taylor Swift and vaccines ?

I love Taylor Swift and vaccines and will canvas for Harris in PA. I just don't like YOU.

+1, sounds like the OP hit a little too close to home for the PP.

Anonymous wrote:Yes. It is so obnoxious, the smug smarmy attitude. I vote dem because I’m not a g-d moron and can see that the other party wants to actively oppress women and take away our financial and medical autonomy, but wow, I wish there was some kind of third option between the slimiest and most insufferable people I’ve ever met in my life, and voting myself into second class citizenship

Thx for proving OP’s point.

I only find this stunning when a friend says something like “I could never be friends with someone who votes for Trump.”
—and yet they truly have no idea how I vote because we’ve never discussed it and they’ve never asked. (For the record, I voted for Trump once before) But after that statement is said, it’s like a threat that tells me they are intolerant and closed-minded, while pretending and maybe even believing themselves to be the opposite.

In contrast to all those open-minded Trump voters.

Its especially annoying when I'll point out that maybe Dems would be more successful electorally (something I want because the GOP is horrifying and also because I share many/most Democratic policy goals) if there was less scorn from many in the party toward people who are not coastal, UMC, and highly educated, I am ALSO viewed with suspicion. Or if I say "yes I share your goal of making society less dependent on fossil fuels, but I don't think we can realistically convert most car drivers in Nebraska (where I'm from) to e-bikes," then I'm probably MAGA too.

Sometimes the groupthink and cliquishness on the left is as bad as the right, even if the underlying ideas are way better. It's the better of two bad options but yes it sure is annoying sometimes.

I’m with you.
Dems need to work harder to understand and reach all corners of the party, and to think much more about economic issues and how they impact people who aren’t coastal elite. This board is a great example of being out of touch, when people are whining that they don’t have more than $1 or $2 million in their 401k.

My dh was true blue liberal, we laughed how we cancelled each others vote every year! He finally came to me one day and said he could not put up with our Bethesda life any longer. His description was it felt phony and the people blew with the wind with their allegiance. We have no family here, started over with our children. Took pay cuts but my god is our life so much more genuine and quite simply, happier. Travel back and forth to dc due to our industry and work and hate it more and more. Sadly most of the people in dc don’t get what a joke they are to the people looking in, no self reflection at all.

We are glad you left.

This post is so tolerant! And definitely not obnoxious or self righteous!

I do think I'm better than people who need their assault weapons and sacrifice children for guns.

I have no interest in tolerating crappy people.

Yeah! You sure told them.
Bethesda people don't care what you think.

I find it off putting and myopic, although admittedly I am probably insular in my own way too. I don’t like guns, I live on the east coast, I support liberal causes, but I also don’t think I’m inherently better than those other people either.

Troll.

Said by someone likely intolerant of others for their religion, who they love, what gender they choose, and who wants autonomy over their own body.

Seems like you think you are inherently better than your friends.
