water sports with boss?

Yeah I don’t know what some people are talking about. I’ve been to Cancun, Marco island, Cabo, key west, and we fished, sailed, jet skied, swam in the pool, hung out on the beach, and yes the women wore bikinis and the guys were shirtless. People were drunk.

My buddy won presidents club and a company sailing trip to Hawaii. He pressured his 40 year old wife to drop a few pounds so he could show her off to his coworkers…the hot wife lifestyle i guess.

But I agree, this is all normal. Just go in the trip and have fun.

Been to all those places. Never saw a legit conference. Just vacationers or weddings. Winning a trip to Hawaii is not a conference.

Everyone:

Please! For the love of all that’s holy: DO NOT GOOGLE “WATER SPORTS.”

Especially not “google images.” And especially ESPECIALLY not with with kids around

You’ve been warned.

Fail.

My cardiologist is going to a conference at Fairmont Orchid on Big Island in January. I told him the best places to snorkel.

Can’t wait to hear what conference and what venue from OP.

He enthusiastically said yes. I mentioned this to my DH and he is adamant this is very inappropriate. I have zero attraction to my boss and he's never been inappropriate. Should I find a way to cancel? I really don't want to but I can see why this may seem inappropriate from the outside. Boss is 5 years older than me fwiw.

There are no conferences that do this.

Try harder Troll. Less total nonsense.

This is the day before the conference. Many industries have conferences at fancy resorts.

Sorry, not on the ocean or big lakes. not even MasterCraft.

Name the BS resort or conference Op.

Not sure why you are obsessed over this one point. Because I made it up?

I googled Miami industry conferences and 12 popped up between October and December.

I am sure if you google warm weather locations like Tampa or other Florida cities or San Diego you will also see a bunch pop up.

Those have huge office districts and expo centers.

No ones at a conference in swimsuits with their boss or “water sports” out on the open water ocean. lol. No one would pay for a bunch of execs to crash around and on a wave runner in Miami.

Did you say San Diego? Do you even know what temp the water is there and how wavy?

Name the conference location where white collar workers are swimming and water sporting together at. It’s not Miami nor San Diego. It’s not in USA.

Are you really this thick?

Op says she is going to a conference…let’s say it’s Miami as a straw city.

Conference starts Monday so she is jet skiing on Sunday.

She didn’t say the jet skiing and conference had anything to do with each other. The location is warm near the ocean.

Get it now or are you still confused? Have you never combined a work trip with some R&R days?

Aren’t stand up jet skis from the 1990s?

Make sure you share the one hour drive from the gassy marina or conference center to the Water Sports area!
Water sports r the best.

You guys arguing there can’t be a conference at a resort are weird. My dad is an MD and he went to conferences in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, ski resorts in Colorado, and all over Europe all the time.

I am in pharma and have been to company meetings all over the place, including El Conquistador in Puerto Rico.

Anonymous wrote:Not OP, but here are some places I’ve attended conferences where I assume snorkeling and jetskiing tours are nearby:

Waldorf Astoria Key West (looks like it’s now called Casa Marina)
Ritz St Thomas
JW Marriott Marco Island
Marriott Sanibel Harbour

Plus there are a few places on Key Largo. I’ve just never personally been to a conference there.

Fascinating venues you’ve been to for work conferences. Cant imagine their minimums. And must have been some long flights and drives to some of those you listed.

What industry are you in that chose to have conferences at those specific venues?

Why are you fighting this?

Plenty of conferences at resorts. Wait till you hear about the meetings literally at the bottom of ski lifts.

You don’t get out much.

My mother was in the insurance business. She attended lots of conferences at resorts Insurance people love expensive parties.

When did you go to El Conquistador? Pre-2010? Is it up and running after its many year shutdown?

I keep thinking about this thread and how I want a snorkel boss

I think it’s totally fine. I was on a two week trip with my boss and a client, and we had a free weekend. We went rafting, and it was great.

It’s a dumb idea. If anyone sees the two of you snorkeling or jet skiing together they will assume the worst and then the rumors will start. You don’t need that.

I just googled “Maui conference” and a few (cardiology, construction) came up. Last year my neurologist friend attended a conference in Thailand and a few years before that Italy. Conferences for sure can be in warm / beach areas where you might want to arrive a day early.

OP here. I’m not sharing conference location because it’s too identifiable. I did not end up doing “water sports with my boss” because we ended up getting invited to a pre-conference event that was also in the beach!. I don’t know what tell all the skeptics….i guess I’m senior enough in a fancy industry?
