My DD is 6.5 and 30 lbs and 33 inches. You have a problem. She may look fine to you, but she's not growing. I can tell you that a feeding tube is suggested at this height and weight.

@ 6:28, I'm the mom of the 33 lb girl you referred to and she does not need a feeding tube, she eats very well, healthy, extremely active, happy, well adjusted, dr didn't say anything at her check up. What's the basis for your feeding tube comment?

Not the PP, but aren't you a little concerned? About neither her height nor weight being on the charts?

Mom here, no, not concerned. DH and I were small children and are normal sized adults. We see what she eats and it's healthy and balanced. She's doing fine. What am I missing?

PS 7:34 here, she grows and gains weight each year, never had a plateau, low and steady, and no health issues. I'm a little surprised by the comments, not sure what I should be looking at/for. Dr never mentioned anything.

DS will be 5 in Dec, he is skin and bones but weighs 39 lbs. he is tall so I guess that's why he weighs that much.

? NP here: According to my medical records, I weighed 38 when I was 7, was neither very tall nor small nor exceptionally thin, and developed into a healthy, active, well-adjusted adult.

If she is on a steady growth curve and your doctor says nothing, then fine.

Thanks 9:30 and 10:30! The feeding tube thing threw me for a loop!

DS is 37 lbs and 46" tall. He just turned 5.

haven't read all posts - weight only matters when used in conjunction with height. there should be a correlation.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Weight alone means nothing as it must be correlated with height and you need to plot these on a growth chart and watch the trend. DS is 4.5 and only 31 pounds. Yes, he is around the 3rd percentile and is the same for height. He has gained weight at every well checkup it's just that he is running at the bottom of the curve. He eats like a horse but probably has my metabolism and everyone on both sides of the family are short and small. Genes also play are role in this as well.

I just took my 5yo boy to the doctors and they said he is overweight. He just turned 5 on October 1st of this year and he is 52 pounds. Should I be concerned?\
