| If a man's wife or girlfriend ends up suspiciously missing or dead, he has a really uphill battle if he wants to prove he wasn't involved. The stats don't lie. |

They ended up doing a “meeting“ inside the police station and did not allow cameras. He will be arraigned tomorrow morning. One correction to the above, they have not found her body. He was charged, however with concealing a dead body on the date of 7/30 which is interesting considering she was not considered missing until the 31st. |

Horrendous. They haven't found her body, but he has been charged with concealing a dead body? I'm not tracking, but I'm sure someone can explain. I guess they found evidence of a murder and activities associated with concealing a dead body? What a horrible outcome, that poor child. Evil vile man. |

Ok, just answered my own question. A reporter from WTOP tweeted: "An arrest and a charge in the case of Mamta Kafle Bhatt. Her husband Naresh Bhatt was arrested and charged with “prohibition against concealment of a dead body” - which basically means he accused of not cooperating with police in finding a body. More charges likely." |

Which also means there is evidence she is no longer living. I'd guess there is a crime scene in the home that he unsuccessfully tried to hide. Enough to conclude she is gone. |

MANASSAS PARK, Va. (7News) — The husband of a missing Manassas Park, Virginia woman was charged Thursday with Prohibition Against Concealment of a Dead Body in connection to her disappearance. According to the Library of Congress, the Prohibition Against Concealment of a Dead Body is a felony charge given to "any person who transports, secretes, conceals or alters a dead body, as defined in 32.1-249, with malicious intent and to prevent detection of an unlawful act or to prevent the detection of the death or the manner or cause of death." Mamta Kafle Bhatt, 28,was last seen on July 31 and has not been in contact with her family or friends since. Her infant daughter turned one over the weekend. Manassas Park Police Department (MPPD) officers responded to her home on Aug. 2, following a welfare check request from her employer. Her husband, Naresh Bhatt, reported her missing three days later on Aug. 5. Police said additional investigative leads may lead to further charges against Naresh. He is being held without bond pending his arraignment Friday morning in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Amy Ashworth, Commonwealth's Attorney for Prince William County, told 7News that authorities "don't know" if Mamta is alive. But the Manassas Park Police Department said they will continue to investigate her disappearance and hope to locate her. On Thursday morning, 7News cameras captured Naresh as he was put into handcuffs and placed inside a police cruiser. This follows the execution of a search warrant at the couple's home on Wednesday after Mamta was missing for three weeks. Mamta's daughter, covered by a blanket, was taken out of the home by authorities Thursday morning following his arrest. The little girl is safe and has been placed in the care of the Department of Social Services, police said. "I feel terrible for the baby and the mother. I feel sick to my stomach. It's devastating to have it be someone you live close to," neighbor Ivy Freeman told 7News. During a Wednesday night press conference, Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Lugo stated that the department has pursued numerous leads and conducted over 10 search warrants related to the case, including the one executed at the couple’s residence on Wednesday. Police also conducted hundreds of interviews in connection with the case. |
