What private school/s have the best sports programs for boys + girls?

Don't be so sure that there will be no changes in the make-up of the IAC. (In college sports look how fast the ACC expanded after decades of stability.). I think it would be a mistake for Potomac and/or Sidwell to join the IAC, given the numbers, but you never know--there are a number of Sidwell alums who are now parents who liked being in the IAC, and they are getting a new head of school. If the IAC could get enough teams (which would be tough) they could go to two divisions, like the girls' league, the ISL (which I think has 15 total members).

You seem very quick to point your finger at Landon, do you have some personal vendetta against Landon. The last time I checked the IAC is comprised of 5 other teams. From my sources, Landon is trying to get GP back in the IAC for football which is the complete opposite of what you are saying.

And its foolish tot hink Sidwell and Potomac are going to join the IAC. Thats a lie. Sidwell and Potomac don't even dominate the MAC, what makes you think they would even come over the IAC - as much strong athletic conference.

Sidwell DOES dominate the MAC. It has won the Director's Cup 9 out of the last 10 years (this Cup is given at the end up each school year to the school that has the most MAC banners). Sidwell does indeed have some work to do in football, lacrosse and probably baseball if it is to compete with any IAC school. But all other boys sports are very strong, and finish either 1st or 2nd in the MAC.

Lets be serious, the most popular sport in the DC area is football, followed by basketball and then lacrosse. Sidwell is terrible in all three of these sports. They certainly need to improve all three of these programs before they even consider joining the IAC.

Sidwell is very good in soccer obviously, it would be very interesting to see how they would do in the IAC for soccer as Episcopal has also become a national powerhouse too.

If you are serious about sport, then do it outside the school.

I don't know how you measure popularity but I'm no so sure you're right about football. There are tens of thousands of kids playing soccer every saturday in rec and club games. Baseball is also pretty strong in this area. Football is the most high profile sport in high school, but in terms of numbers, I bet there are more kids playing soccer, baseball and possibly lacrosse than football.

Saying Sidwell ``has some work to do'' is a dramatic understatement. There is no way the school would be competitive in football, lacrosse or baseball in the IAC. Not even close. Sidwell may do well in the MAC overall, but its Football, lacrosse and baseball programs are not particularly strong - even within the MAC
