There was an unspoken or defacto policy that you could stay after lessons to chill and not being able to do that would definitely impact my likelihood to sign up for lessons again. I don’t see the harm in posting it. Obviously the pool is well within their rights to crack down and it’s good that they communicated it.

It’s not helpful. You sound unhinged.

Lol, that person does not sound unhinged at all. In fact, they sound calm and reasonable.

Ok OP

Nope, new poster, enjoying the discussion.

In all honestly when we have done private lessons at $40 for 30 minutes we usually end up there for about 2 hours in total. When we come to PG Pool as guests of friends who are members its costs $17 for me and my two kids and we could literally stay all day so... It is a bummer because the young people who do the swim lessons there do a great job and I am happy to support them but I will likely just come as a guest in the future and save myself the extra $$

And I don't think the PG pool allows non members to sign up for lessons out of the kindness of their hearts, this year we have spent around $550 on group and private lessons (the membership would cost us around $770 if we ever moved off of the waitlist) and that clearly benefits the membership. It just seems short sighted to potentially alienate a group of people who are contributing to the pool finances.

Again. You are paying for a 30 min lesson. Not a 30 min lesson and a day pass. It’s unclear why this is so difficult to grasp. No where on the PG Pool website does it say otherwise.

The intent is to inform families who are signed up for session 4 and for families who are signing up for private lessons. So far this information has not been disseminated beyond families in session 3 or updated on the website. This is a change from previous years/sessions and now several families are requesting refunds as this policy came well after sign ups for group lessons.

It’s not a new policy though.

The practice of getting to use a private pool for which you aren’t a member after a swim lesson is not common. I’m sorry if some of you thought it was because PG pool was turning a blind eye to entitled folks taking advantage. Good luck finding another pool to mooch on. Hot tip- could just pay to go to the open sessions at a public one.

This. Your cheapness and cheating ruined it for everyone op. You thought you could just sign up for $100 lessons and then stay all day. You are a disgrace.

Often, private clubs assume people will act with class and decorum, b/c that is how the vast majority of the club members behave. They don't anticipate the boorish, grasping, cheap behavior of the general public.

If families are requesting refunds then they clearly got the message. If someone is trying to use their swim lessons to back door their way into staying at the pool then this seems like a reasonable policy. I assume the policy has always been that non-members do not have free access to the pool following their lessons. It seems like someone was abusing the pool’s generosity in permitting non-members to take lessons.

Still not clear why you are complaining about it here.

The families who requested refunds are telling on themselves!

It’s been a fairly well-known loophole among the non-members who receive lessons or are part of the swim team that nobody will stop you from lingering. The problem is that there’s been an uptick in bad behavior, much of which involves non-members who bring a bus full of people to watch Ryleigh Shaniatwaine not swim for 30 minutes then stay for eight more hours. They don’t respect the space or people because they have no investment in the pool. This rule is getting enforced now because the freeloaders made themselves too obvious with their conduct.

They let people join the swim team who aren't pool members? Wow.

I was at a neighborhood gathering a few months ago where the moms who do this were brazenly bragging about it. They talked about bringing their whole families and cooking dinner there.

I’ve heard people do the same thing. I’m 99% sure I know who the OP is.

lol I knew there was another long thread somewhere about this pool. Honestly with the waitlist it doesn’t surprise me at all that people would try to use lessons as a back door way to use the pool instead.

I'm shocked the membership doesn't cancel lessons for non-members
