I don’t think you could bring other kids in? Just the lesson kid(s).

I did this last summer. What it looked like was we did our 30 minute lesson, then played in the pool for another 45 min.

I think the really angry and outraged PPs don’t understand how widely shared by word of mouth this “perk” for swim lessons has been. I even asked the kid at the check in desk to make sure it was okay because I’m an anxious rule follower, and she said we could stay as long as we liked.

Everyone agrees that they’re perfectly allowed to change/clarify/enforce the policy. I think the OP just wanted people to know so they could decide if they still want to do the lessons.

Sounds like this was a perk or privilege. For whatever reason PGP has decided to revoke this privilege. Because it is a members only establishment, this is well within their rights to do so.

The question is why did they decide to change this policy?

Well presumably it became an issue for the members. No big deal, just good for people to know before they sign up for lessons. But for this summer’s lesson people it’s probably a bummer.

It’s okay, everyone except the members hates that darn pool anyway because we can’t join! Lol.

Jk please keep bringing me as a guest.

OP back, wow this got WILD. "little Pyper Jax" LOLLL - y'all are too funny!!

and THIS 👆👆👆

They are fully in their right to change the policy though I do think it could have been handled differently. This email was sent out at 6:45 last night and only to those in session 3, this just a left a few hours for people to decide if lessons would still work for them given the change (the Friday prior to the upcoming session is the last day you can cancel) I was sharing this so those in session 4 and those considering private lessons would be we well aware of the change and have more than a few hours to decide for themselves.

So you feel it's unreasonable that they only made the change now? Clearly visitors were taking advantage of the perk, and paid members were upset. I think highly of a pool that listens to its members.

I assume it’s hard to keep email lists straight between the sessions because not all of the people are members of the pool and on their regular list serve

It doesn't sound like a change in policy. We did lessons there several years ago and the rules were that you could come in for your lesson time. If we wanted to stay longer we had to connect with friends who were members and pay the guest fee.

OP sounds like the ultimate freeloader.

For once DCUM is in complete agreement. Love it.

Dear goodness, stop using all these weird emojis. And no, you posted because you thought it was ok to freeload. Don’t backtrack and lie.

That's bizarre. Unless it was clear in the swim lesson contract, I would never dream that we could stay and swim in a members only private pool (really, the oddest thing about the whole situation is that they let the general hoi polloi in for private lessons at all.)

This makes no sense. Nothing is different about the swim lesson, so why would the lesson suddenly "not work" for people due to a pool enforcing its rules?
Anonymous
It's not a new policy, OP. It's just that the pool decided that it was time to enforce it. There are too many people walking in and out of the gate without checking in and that has become a problem.
Anonymous
You thought it was ok to stay after you kid's lesson? That is so entitled and presumptuous. Wow. Just wow.
Anonymous
The *policy* hasn't changed, but the *procedure* to ensure the policy is followed has.

Unless there's some reason the act of signing out is an overwhelming barrier to swim lesson participation, this should have no impact a non-member's decision to take private lessons here.
