Nah....it was overwhelming the Chinese. I suggest you read Ghosts of Gold Mountain. The Irish were extremely inefficient and terrible workers. The Chinese were so good they best the crap out of a British team that was thought to be the best in the world at blasting and laying track. The Chinese basically did all of the the hardest, most back breaking work building the west and for half the wages of the Irish.

This is true. The Chinese are exceptional both at being AND managing slaves. It’s possible they may turn out to be so good at it that it’s bad for us, but that’s a problem for another day.

My company closes for every federal holiday except Juneteenth.

I work from home, so I just never logged in. Totally ignored work.

I logged in this morning. No consequences. Business as usual. No one mentioned it.

What were they going to do, fire me for not working on a federal holiday?

IMO, the people and companies that don’t fully support this holiday is an example of micro aggression. I fully support this holiday and hope our society will eventually fully embrace real, and not superficial, DEI.
