No, I don’t like to use my phone and have no music apps or music streaming. I still have a CD player in my house.

I read a substack from a music critic and he was just talking about how much better the sound is on CDs versus streaming. I've still got mine.

My 2020 Acura has a CD player. I didn't even realize until I'd driven it for a couple months, and then I was super excited.

You can buy a CD player with a USB cord for the car. Then you just plug your USB in but you can put the CDs in and out of the CD player.

This is the best current solution.

I was going to buy one until a younger friend mocked me so I didn't bother. Result is I don't listen to music in the car anymore. My commute is short so I've never made time to rip all my CDs to digital form.

Ironically, we once had a portable car player that we got rid of because it was supposedly obsolete.

CD players came out of cars because they are easily broken and add weight. Meantime the smartphone revolution did ourcompete them for users/listeners. So on balance the car companies needed to spend the money elsewhere in the product. A lot of expensive custom software programming goes into making vehicle infotainment.

The true survivors are AM and FM radio. AM radio is vulnerable.

I had one of them years ago. It used to work of my car cassette player. It worked fantastic for about a week or so then it started to skip or jump everytime I drove over any type of bump in the road. Hopefully, the new portable CD players work a lot better.

I remember the portable car CD players; had one because tape deck.

You can get a plug-in DVD player to go with it!

You are the modern equivalent of someone in the 90s complaining that they couldn't find a car with an 8track. Join the modern world.
