My commute is short so I've never made time to rip all my CDs to digital form. Ironically, we once had a portable car player that we got rid of because it was supposedly obsolete. CD players came out of cars because they are easily broken and add weight. Meantime the smartphone revolution did ourcompete them for users/listeners. So on balance the car companies needed to spend the money elsewhere in the product. A lot of expensive custom software programming goes into making vehicle infotainment. The true survivors are AM and FM radio. AM radio is vulnerable. [/quote]
