In at Latin for 9th (sibling preference). Did not get in last year (despite also having sibling preference).
Thank you younger sibling! |
For PK3, we were matched with #5 (of 11) on our list, Dorothy Height, which I am feeling good about. All of our waitlist numbers are high enough that there really isn't any chance of an offer coming, which is actually an unexpected relief... I am so glad to be done with this process, at least for this year. |
But not in a bad way for a Miner boundary family. Swing space is the one up by TR Young that SWS used. So a closer commute than the actual JO campus (which is going to be really nice once renovated -- Perkins Eastman is doing it and they did several others in DC including John Lewis which I really like). I get PP is happy at Apple Tree, but the point is that it doesn't go past ECE. I'd seriously consider other options if it were me. Both Payne and JOW are decent options that are easy commutes but will last past K in case the lottery doesn't cut PP's way. I would not assume that those two options will be easy to get into when PP is ready -- trends are moving against that. |
What was your waitlist # for 8th? Sitting at #3 with (younger) sibling preference and feeling anxious. |
Really did the lottery not expecting much, kid got into LAMB for K. Am truly shocked but now not sure what to do. We like our IB current school but don’t like the feeder MS/HS and would like the Spanish immersion. |
Top choice PK4 Maury |
Is commute reasonable? If so, I'd go for it. We have friends there who love love love it, and I think K is young enough to make the adjustment to Montessori and immersion. And peace of mind for MS/HS is huge. |
Congrats. These choices are always difficult. Ask around in your friend group for information and opinions on LAMB, tour if they let you and make a decision. |
Thoughts on Payne vs L-T? In at Payne for PK4, waitlist #11 for L-T. |
Assume you are OOB for LT? Surprised the waitlist for PK4 isn't longer. Both are good options, are you already at Payne or just now getting in? |
You probably won't actually have the option of L-T but you should take it if you get it. If you don't get it, Payne is also good. If it's your IB and you want a closer commute, it's reasonable to choose that. |
Both good schools. You're in at Payne, great take that. If you get off the waitlist for L-T, go tour it and see if it's worth the jump. A major factor for me would be commute. If one of those schools is 4 blocks away and the other is 10, I'd choose the closer school. If equidistant, slight edge to L-T, but honestly everyone I know at Payne is very happy there. Congrats, that's a good result for PK4 -- you must have had a good lottery draw. |
Shut out for everything in PK3 with super high waitlist numbers. I know it's a lottery but I didn't think we'd do so bad all around.
