Something like this is appropriate anywhere imo and you could wear tights and boots.

That seems out of OP's price range comparing it to what she's linked.

Love this dress, but I think pretty expensive for a 'meet the parents' brunch.

Young people do not wear DVF.

Someone was suggesting Boden. I'm guessing people in their 20's don't even know of Boden! If they do, they probably think of it as for babies and toddlers.

It's just my mother, and we consider Olive Garden fancy and I'd wear whatever I was wearing that day - joggers and a hoodie/tshirt or jeans. We're more diner people, but we don't actually go to dinner. We went out with a group of friends the day I graduated from HS - I think that was the last time we went to dinner.

Okay but presumably you’ve been out to dinner since you were 18? What did you wear on your first date with this guy?

You must have a sweater or blouse, right? Team it with black pants and whatever you deem “dressy” black shoes - flats, ankle boots, kitten heel, etc.

OP this sounds really stressful. Can't your boyfriend help you? He must know what your background is, that you are nervous, and that you don't really know what to wear.

If it were me I would likely go with a dress and boots or a pair of wide legged trouser type pants like this https://www.anntaylor.com/clothing/pants/cata000014/838938.html?dwvar_838938_color=8818&pid=838938&priceSort=DES and a button down like this https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-silky-cttn-relaxed-shirt-marinerblue-white?collection=womens-tops.

Ann Taylor I think is also good when you are 26 and don't have a ton of money but need to look appropriate for something. These dresses are pricey but AT runs good sales.

The first of these Ann Taylor dresses has a nice plain cut that is understated. This is what I consider to be a church or business casual dress for a person who prefers a traditional and not trendy style.

Ann Taylor Factory Outlet and Loft are other sources of this type of fashion.

Here are two neutral silhouettes from Loft.

I show these just to give evidence that stores for younger women do have styles similar to those for older women.

This.

Is this okay with black flats? https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/vince-camuto-long-sleeve-faux-wrap-dress?ID=4688997&CategoryID=1005208&sizes=RTW_CLOTHING_SIZE_T!!4%2C%20S

Everything suggested sucks.

OP seems to want to wear something that shows off a fair amount of leg. Personally I wouldn’t do that on the first meet-up. And no animal prints.

I think it's helpful to give general examples. Then OP can go to the mall and find something that meshes her style and color preferences with the general idea.

I think short dresses and skirts are best for dates.
