Oh, and here’s me thinking that the species survives on reproduction and collaboration. |
Some women were “allowed” to explore, like Amelia Earhart. There was also Marie Curie, but her accomplishments were mostly given to a man until after she died. . . To PP - you know the history books were written within our sexist (and racist) culture, right? |
Yep, and therefore, it should be observable in objective data. We need more data!! |
This subject is fraught at the best of times, generally it's taboo. Just read this thread to see why. |
When you can't make a case freak out and scream MAGA! Is that what they teach in 8 week nine PhD programs? |
So, throughout time women have always been held back, thwarted, oppressed, etc. Why do you think that is? Is it random chance? |
It's because testosterone-driven violence has oppressed women for thousands of years - and continues to do so. Men worry women will laugh at them, women worry about the potential every man has to snap and murder them. |
Try again. I have a PhD in neuroscience. I know this will just provoke another insult, you’ve demonstrated you are triggered. Lemme, guess, you don’t believe me - I must be a troll - quick find another insult to discredit me - blah, blah, blah. My credentials are not at play here. I don’t care what you think or believe. Just ask yourself - why are you so triggered by a different opinion on a subject that has little or no bearing on you personally. Whether or not this is nature or nurture cannot be changed. Brains are neuroplastic and change through time (google it). Any studies done on adult brains cannot separate the cultural element, because the brains have changed through time (fact). Why does that scare you? I’m not even saying that one brain is different or the same as another. I’m simply questioning the study. I think you’ll find other neuroscientists are also questioning that study - google it. |
DP. I'm not going to question your bona fides. I'll accept them. I am going to point out that this study goes against the current view of sex and gender so if course there will be pushback. That doesn't mean it needs to be dismissed. It does mean that it is stepping into areas of research that are treacherous, if not outright forbidden. Much easier to question it and find flaws. |
Why do the results scare you and cause you to dismiss them outright? You're the one who needs to take a step back instead of reflexively scoff that maybe your preconceived notions may be based on faulty science. |
OK, fueled by calories we provided by inventing agriculture and animal husbandry, wearing clothes we provided by inventing weaving, knitting, and sewing, successfully raised to adolesence/adulthood in the homes and communities we maintained on a day-to-day basis for MILLENIA. When you see images of a third world country devastated by war, pestilence, disease, or natural disaster, who is keeping society together and raising the next generation so that "the world" continues? WOMEN. And so it has always been. Why don't you go award yourself another medal for your explorations, adventures, and innovations. |
Maybe, maybe not....it needs to be demonstrated and it just hasn't. I dismiss nothing and question everything. It's kinda my job - no "reflexive scoff", we call it due diligence. |
This. Nothing new here |
I guess you would question a study that says water is wet as well. Too much invested otherwise. |
