Women and men’s brains are different according to this Stanford study

Before I had kids, I was convinced it was nurture, not nature.

Then I had kids. Great kids. But, it is 80% nature or higher. We control much less than what we think or want.

You think boy and girl infants act differently?

I think toddlers and up can act differently. I have only boys. The language acquisition in most girls far surpassed my boys at a young age. I think girls, on average, are capable of more at younger age than boys and that starts to even out in the tweens.

We did not “gender” our boys. We didn’t care about any of that stuff. They primarily grew up overseas in a different culture anyway. But they are who they are, that’s for sure.

I don't think I am a man and I don't want to be, but I'm wired to think and act like one.

We were very gender neutral with both kids but some stuff is just hard wired.

Don’t we know that women have a far better sense of smell and color? That’s all brain related.

It’s interesting for sure but not earth shattering.

Rhymes with smurfs.

DP

Absolutely.

By the time they’re toddlers, they definitely act differently. I recall in our playgroup that at age 2, the girls could sit quietly and flip through books while the boys were climbing on everything and ripping up said books.

You've got it backwards. Those think that there are differences. The people who oppose them think there aren't.

You're an idiot.

Men and women's brains are absolutely different. They've known about this for years. For example, DNA methylation patterns for tissues in the brain are different in men vs women.

https://epigenie.com/sex-on-the-brain-dna-methylation-defines-gender/

We need to stop treating men and women the same, because they're not. It is scientific fact.

Well, hang on. Brains have differences, just like bodies do, but why does that lead you think they shouldn't be treated the same? Quite an extreme leap you took there. What other differences among us all do you thing should cause people to be treated differently?

Oh, oh, pick me....I know....hair color, eye color, height, body type.... these are all genetic too. We can treat people different based on their skin color and gender. Oh, wait, we already do that.

These are differences ON AVERAGE. Learn what that means. There are sex differences in every system of the brain ON AVERAGE. You can't put any single individual into a box based on the group average, but you can describe what a population looks like on average.

NP
Depends on what you mean by “treated differently.” A kid with a learning disability or anxiety - should they get testing accommodations? Because that would be treating them differently.

Is that what this study says about the differences between male and female brains? That all of one gender has a disability?

DP
Well, pregnancy in this country is still considered under the disability act. Females and various racial groups are also protected by law. So, I'm gonna go with, yes- being female has been a disability for me. I can't say or do the same things as men without society consequences and judgements.

First intelligent comment on this board. Brains are known to have neuroplasticity which means they change due to their environmental conditions. How do you separate our sexist environment to understand true biological differences. We can't.

The only reason women are less intelligent is the makeup we wear is causing us to be that way. The poison they add to the products causes your brain to pause. All done to make us look crazy. We aren't . We're experiments for them to watch.

Women don’t need to be convinced to hate men. That’s as old as our species.

But a decade from now when animatronic sex/companion robots start to become mainstream among Gen Z, young men WILL need to be convinced why real, human women are worth the trouble.

Quite the opposite. Women, having the ability to have children, need to know what the point of a man is. We already work and rear children, many of us completely by ourselves. Men will just be sperm donors. Men already get paid to jerk off, so this will never go away...

Yet you can observe these differences from a very young age. The only people who think like you PP are people who have never had kids or raised them. People like you think they are going to raise a perfectly gender neutral child and own't subject your precious to a sexist environment until real life slaps you upside your stupid head.

I think PP treated them differently then chalked their incentivized behavioral differences up to nature, not her (and society's) differential treatment. She basically pressed the "I don't want to think beyond the surface" button in her own brain.

Yes!!! How to transgender brains factor into this! We need more info.

Yes, clearly children are tabula rasa and are only gendered because their parents, consciously or subconsciously, taught them to be.
