Same with my triplets who got into Caltech. The stress is nauseating.

My quadruplets who got into Stanford are just a mess. Really awful.

Same with my quintuplets who bagged Oxford. It’s rough here.

To the poster --- my child is in the same situation; it is a blessing to get into UChicago, but it is hard to withdraw all the other applications. It is hard not to feel a little bad, even though it's a good thing. We are withdrawing them now.

Our DC is in at Chicago as well. Ed 2. Happy and now withdrawing RD applications. A bit painful, considering how much effort went into them. But, happy the process is done. DC has a slight feeling of sadness about the RDs but is excited for start at this great school in the Fall.

It was almost 70 degrees today.

Right? My DD is at Wisconsin and the lake never even froze this year.

I moved to the Chicago area 15+ years ago from DMV. The winters the past 5 years or so are getting noticeably warmer and shorter with fewer snow days. We did have that one weekend of -9 degree weather this year, but it was an outlier for sure.

Is it cold in Chicago? I have never heard that.

My son is there, first quarter was a little bit of adjustment socially and academically, but after that he is doing great.
He made lots of friends and he has a very busy social life.
Winter has not been bad at all !
Congratulations

Chicago is an incredible school, and attending it is an amazing opportunity. The only legitimate regrets anyone should have in this context is that DC will be stuck eating deep dish for four years. . . .

High crime, noncollaborative students, severe winters (and “springs”). What’s not to like?

Enough with the cold weather fear mongering.

This. It's not like cold weather will be a surprise. Many don't mind it.
