Chicago ED 2 - Regret

Because name brand is the driver.

It was almost 70 degrees today.

Hello, captain obvious, on many levels. (a) this entire forum involves people trying to get validation of whatever they’re obsessed about and (b) yes, OP is an idiot.

More than likely it is the resident DCUM anti-UChicago troll. If you haven't noticed, UChicago, WashU and NEU get attacked by the same woman, constantly, in and out of context.

OP here. No. No desire for anonymous public acclaim. And I do feel like a bit of an idiot. It is a very good school of course. Hopefully, this is merely buyer's remorse.

OP - can you give us an idea of *why* you are feeling buyers remorse? It sounds like its more you than your DC... or are they feeling this way as well? I'm just curious - it's obviously a lottery ticket school, your kid shot their shot and got in. Is it financial woes?

Based on what? Be specific.

Can the PPs with kids presently at UChicago say why their kids like it? That may help.

OP here. Not financial issues. Honestly, worried that DC may not be up to the Chicago challenge.

Right? My DD is at Wisconsin and the lake never even froze this year.

OP, first of all congrats! The level of rigor, however, does sound like a legitimate concern. I'd like to think the schools know what they are doing and select kids they think can handle the work. Your DC is accepted now, so perhaps some summer prep work will make your DC feel more at ease. Particularly if they have an idea of what courses they will take this fall. Focus on prep for those.

That's such a bummer. Don't kids skate on it!

I know a kid feeling the same. Think it will wear off. ED2 is hard bc it isn’t the top choice (assuming ED 1 didn’t work out) and often fueled by anxiety. But still might have been the right thing to do. You guys will settle into it as you get used to the idea.
