????? They absolutely do have to lobby the county all. the. freaking. time. for field permits. More a reflection of the county though, getting permits for anything is a nightmare. |
I think this is a feature of american youth soccer in general. Overheard a European youth coach in the US complaining about it and how it’s not an issue in much of Europe cause the model is different |

Let's recap to the little knowledge I have. Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.
VDA - New ECNL girls director with Bobby. Aaron is on staff as well. ECNL coaches for boys and girls are pretty much the same. TSJ FCV - New lead director in Adam for both boys and girls. Dominic is on as college pathway and coach for girls. Little knowledge about the new coach and assistant director for girls. No other coaches known. There is no way Sporting Global continues with the boys side. SYC - Overall consistency and honestly better off leaving the Union merger. VRSC - Overall consistently bad except for the 2009 boys teams. Uncertainty with all the NEW. Some consistency. Alexandria - Overall consistency. Arlington - Overall consistency. The Fairfax Virginia Union merger - ECNL Vienna, BRYC, McLean - running as individuals too outside of the Union merger NVA merger- ECNL Loudoun and Valor - running as individuals too outside of the NVA merger Great Falls - uncertainty. Historically solid Herndon - consistent. Little girl's program. Big boys program. Can't get past ECNL RL unless they go to VDA Sterling - broke, but consistent DMV FC - unknow future Leesburg FC and PSA - all for fun Old Dominon Football club - who? Exactly. |
| Wasn't it announced that DMV FC was joining/merging into Great Falls next year? |
Yes, that's what was said but who knows. Maybe DMV *needs* to merge into Great Falls because Nadir has too many jobs! |
| Based on DCUM, everything on the VA side of the river is a hot mess 😆 |
Wait until May. A beloved ECNL coach has taken an out of state job |
Wouldn't everyone know well before then since most places have already, or will soon, have their coaching slates posted for next year? |
Arlington? |
Oh no 😥 don’t say it’s Lindsay? Not LO |
A maryland one. Hence may ID dates |
| Coaches are being worked out by every club now. Most of them are probably pretty close to having them in place but there are always coaches changing clubs and they have to let the current teams know they are leaving, so that is one factor that holds things up. There may be a coach they are trying to replace if they can find someone. Sometimes multiple clubs are chasing the same coaches and they are waiting for them to make a decision. Sometimes they are moving their coaches internally (as they should from time to time) and are trying to get that settled. Sometimes they are trying to find coaches because they are losing some. They want their coaching list and tryout times out as much as the parents do but it is a puzzle and getting the pieces in place isn’t that fast. Once that is done they can look at fields and try to assign dates that work for the coaches. New coaches will still have obligations to their current teams and then internal ones who may be changing groups have to be deconflicted. It’s easier to get the ECNL/MLS Next/ GA coaches set because frankly you’re dealing with far fewer teams with one per age group whereas with the rest of the teams you have multiple teams per age group and you don’t want to put out a list without having every spot filled. |
| Arlington will be a mess on the boys side as it absorbs all of the former McLeanUnion teams/parents/players. Long Bridge was all black and green today. |
Not PG |
ASA Next club primed for a downfall. Those McLean parents drive away everyone—coaches, others, etc. |
