OP's kid is D1 athlete! His college, housing, food, is free...and he's probably making millions in NIL money!

LOLOL Depends on the sport, hun.

The hell you can’t.

Controlling an adult - not a good way to go.

Like you trying to control the mother.

How am I trying to do that? I’m just pointing out it’s a bad idea.

No, you aren’t pointing it out as a bad idea. You did, however dramatize it as controlling.

She literally said “how can I keep my kid from getting a tattoo”. That is literally the definition of controlling.

I think the word literally has control over you.
The definition of controlling is not “she literally said how can I keep my kid from getting a tattoo.”

Still waiting to hear how OP trying to stop her 18 year old from doing something is NOT controlling.

All parents should have some control over college age kid.
Someone needs to take control of you because you are dumb as a box of rocks.

Seriously. My dd's friend is a D1 soccer player at a great school and she pays 45k/year. She certainly is not going for free. There are very few scholarships given depending on the sport.

Get a tattoo yourself so it won’t be cool. 😁

That encourages it, dummy.

Now whether or not that's a good idea is debatable, but it seems to be working.

Well admittedly the best way to keep a kid from getting a tattoo in college, is to not attend college at all. Total win move.

All you are really doing is asking your adult kid to lie to you and hide things from you.

I got a tattoo at 19 and my parents didn't find out for a good decade. Control tactics do not work. Period.

Control tactics sure as hell worked on me. I knew there were consequences and didn’t want to abuse that.
You were a bad egg and a liar.

And your kids will be the exact same way.

I kinda half love the loon that is parking herself on this post. It's like a toddler got a hold of a tablet. Can't wait to see what insult I get.

Is that why you still have that stick you your ass? Your parents are nearly dead now, you can pull it out and relax a bit. You won't go to hell, and the devil will not get your soul.

OP said it was a sport with a tattoo culture. So likely football or basketball. While there are some athletes in every sport that will have tattoos, sports like cross country and swimming aren't really "tattoo culture" like those other two.
