You're probably observing a Bichon or a Maltese and not a Coton. Cotons aren't known to be barkers.

Dud u find a breeder?

Yes, Xceptional Cotons from Indiana.

The only website I can find for them, I get a warning about how the page might be trying to steal information. Do they do any conformation? Health testing?

They have a FB page not a webpage. The owner, Terry, is an ethical breeder. All her dogs come with a genetic test. She's well known in the Coton breeding community. If you join a few FB Coton groups, you'll see her name around. If you're interested, you can easily reach out to her via her FB page. Here's her email: xceptionalCotons@gmail.com

I checked with my Coton friend (former breeder, involved in breed club, etc.). She said that she has no direct experience with the breeder, but she's part of Malagasy Coton Club (looking to preserve genetic diversity in a breed with a small gene pool), which is very strong on ethics and health testing. She just said to be sure that you're looking at the testing results of all breeding stock and related dogs (half siblings, for instance), and to look at the dogs used for breeding, as there is more variability in appearance (they can be taller or have color), so you are aware of what it is you are getting.

OP here: I agree with all this. Terry has been extremely open about sharing sibling and parental genetic information. I'm sure many other ethical breeders are also doing the same, so not saying she's exceptional (no pun intended!!), but so far, I like working with her.
