Many people probably have no idea there is a law about sidewalk shoveling. It does not exist in overwhelming majority of the USA. |
I'm on a busy street and the sidewalk is heavily used by walkers. If I don't get there first, the walkers turn it into solid ice. I did shovel and now it's completely clear and dry. |
We know. We just don’t care |
There are lots of walkers, joggers, dogs, and strollers on our street daily, but not now. Everyone just walks down the one side of the road that was scraped by the plow. It will melt in the next 7-10 days. |
Humans naturally walk, yes. |
And the snow will melt in under a week. |

I have an SUV with AWD. I don’t even shovel my driveway. It is not needed. |
Hired many shovelers lately? Nobody’s knocked on my door for years with a snow shovel in their hand. |
I think that’s the issue. In suburbia it is a nice to have but not a law. |
Omg lol. Thank you. |
Shoveling sidewalks. Just another stupid excuse for unemployed boomers with nothing else to do to lecture and preen, basking in their delusional sense of superiority. |
This How would an 85 year old find someone to shovel their walk? |
Agree, but the reason that I have ice in the first place is all of the dog walkers who go out while it is still snowing and then pack it down before I can shovel. And they would be the first to complain if the sidewalk isn't spotless and coated with Icemelt. If you are walking during the storm, walk on the grass to the side of the sidewalk. |
