Do you even hear yourself? You’re “taking stock [and] owning [your] choices” whereas other people “need discipline and [to] get off their a**es”? Your smug ignorance is unbearable. Make your own medical choices and expend less energy sneering at others’ moral “failings”. Your desperate need to judge others for losing weight The Wrong Way is pure pathology. Are you afraid that if you can’t prove your superiority by showing that you’re doing this The Right Way, there won’t be anything valuable about you? Signed, someone who is not on semaglutide but who doesn’t have moral delusions about pharmaceutical industry and has seen these drugs effect positive change in people’s lives |
I don't need it, but like any other drug would weigh the pros and cons.
The lawsuits are reports of awful side effects would make me hesitant if I needed it. https://nypost-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/nypost.com/2024/01/13/lifestyle/woman-suffers-life-threatening-bowel-injury-from-ozempic-suit/amp/?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQGsAEggAID#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=17052415478137&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fnypost.com%2F2024%2F01%2F13%2Flifestyle%2Fwoman-suffers-life-threatening-bowel-injury-from-ozempic-suit%2F |
NY Post Article Woman suffers ‘life-threatening bowel injury,’ will have diarrhea forever after using Ozempic: lawsuit |
I read almost the entire thread, and I just don't see where anybody who questions the use of these drugs is angry. Help me understand your misperception, and why legitimate questions make you so angry. Especially when you claim you don't use them. |
Eh, it’s not just this thread. There have been endless threads on DCUM from angry women, mostly white, lashing out about Ozempic. It’s enough of a pattern that Jeff commented about it in his blog once. Plus, the existence of this thread itself is a giveaway. There aren’t threads like this for other classes of drugs with worse and more dangerous side effects. The angry obsession is real. |
Says the plaintiff attorney. |
Oh well yes, it can definitely cause vomiting. If vomiting is a no go for you, don’t try it honestly. |
"It's just not." What do you even know with your definitive statement. Please bring the science. It's not recommended to starve yourself on GLP-1 agonists. It's to be able to eat a healthy diet in a calorie deficit. Sorry for your losses, truly. That sounds very difficult. |
DP who has read the thread, and nobody can make you see what you don't want to see. What I see is a bunch of posts from people who don't take these drugs (or need them, it seems) saying that people are starving themselves, that people need to get off their asses, and that it's better to be overweight than take meds. All of those comments are unhinged. What I don't see in this thread are "legitimate questions" being asked. In fact I see no questions being asked. Instead I see a lot of jumping to conclusions about patients not weighing the risks, as if only the anti-med PPs are capable of doing so. I see nobody asking if the patients taking this drug are under the care of a doctor, and if so what risks they've been informed of. I see nobody asking whether it was easy or hard to actually get an Rx, or whether the patient is obese, or what medical issues they had because of obesity and whether those are resolved now. Basically, a complete lack of interest in the experience of people actually taking the medicine. |
No. I have a responsible doctor, no side effects, and it’s actually good for my heart. |
I took Tamiflu a few months ago and threw up. By this logic, if the poster is my friend, then they shouldn’t take it because vomiting can be a side effect for some. —Ozempic user for over a year who has never thrown up or even felt nauseous |
I’m not on these drugs, and thankfully don’t need them. I have posted in support on this thread because my mom is on ozempic, and I’m thrilled she’s had zero side effects. So I’m quite “pro” and trying to understand WTAF your personal damage is to post something so goddamned hateful. I know plenty of POC who are suspicious as hell of these drugs when they shouldn’t be, IMO; the skepticism and criticism isn’t all white women at all, and the cultural pressures on thinness being a virtue weren’t ever only dictated by all-powerful women to Americans at large. Come on. |
why is anyone bringing up race and gender? please just stop. |
Thank you. Well said. |
Yes, and her colon surgeon.
