more traditional schools -- not "woke" but not "fratty"?

PP here— did not read the “not fratty” part. Yeah my list is not for you!

OP here- may see if she can come around on the fratty ones, just to widen the pool. It’s early days still…

We also have entire threads by parents worried “will my LGBTQ kid be happy in Texas?” or “will my Jewish kid be comfortable at a Catholic college?” and nobody says “suck it up, buttercup, if you’re strong you’ll be fine!”

You can’t compare what you have just compared.

These snowflakes who can’t handle people thinking differently are hilarious.

Stunning and hilarious lack of self awareness here. There is nothing the Left HATES more than people who think differently from them.

Plus the usual Lefty hypocrisy - “our political fears are legitimate, yours are baseless.” 🙄

Have you heard of space spaces or trigger warnings?

Hillsdale is beyond traditional. It's a dry campus.

Non-Jesuit Catholic schools would be good too (and I’m a BC grad).

You can find your own people at Michigan. There are all types. You don't have to join a frat/sorority and you don't have to be woke.

Uhh…for the same reason you wouldn’t want to send your kid to a school where the culture was dominated by the KKK. Campus woke culture is authoritarian, fanatical and repressive. Oh and the kids are utter morons. Why would you send your child to such an environment.

Lots of campuses are dry. But the town of Hillsdale isn’t dry & has bars.

Thanks for proving our point. Only one network uses “woke” because all the others ARE woke.

People get exposed to Leftist ideas in nearly every TV show & every movie. On all the “Law & Order” shows 99% of murderers are rich white guys, every non-Muslim religious person is a deranged zealot, every veteran is psycho, & white supremacists are all over NYC.

All the late-night talk shows & SNL have been obsessed with bashing Trump & Republicans for going on 8 years. We get it Kimmel/Fallon/Meyers/Colbert, you don’t like Trump. We heard you the first 1000 times.

So every conservative hears Leftist ideas almost non-stop in the media. But people have to go out of their way to hear non-Leftist views. There are still millions of Americans who think Biden has the southern border locked down because their news sources tell them that. Just tap into any political discussion on DCUM if you doubt this.

All we are saying is that it would be nice if colleges lived up to the ideal of at least acknowledging there are 2 sides of issues.

Rubbing elbows with ‘snobby rich kids’ is one of the most important value adds of a great education. Schools don’t open doors just because of their name on your resume, it’s the people you meet that go on to be senators and run companies. As for the not woke consideration, that’s valid. Check of FIRE - they list the best and worst schools for free speech, and it’s a good parallel to how ‘woke’ they are. Chicago has historically done very well; so has Claremont McKenna in recent years.

The truly wealthy, who will go on to be future politicians and business leaders, do not associate with those outside their socioeconomic class. This is true whether you send your kids to college with them or not. So no, not really a value add.
