Principal Resignation

Indeed, long coming and inevitable. I am very sad for the OA community at large. I personally know the irreplaceable talent, care and institutional knowledge that was lost from the many, many teachers and other staff that left.

He’s out.

How was this confirmed?

Yes, the DCPS Instructional Superintendent met with the OA community this week. He said an interim principal will be appointed soon. Then, a NATIONAL search for a new principal will begin.

Please, no more Wilson/JR staff members!

As a new OA mom, this hurts my heart. Let the rebuilding begin.

There is still a very strong community at OA. It’s a great school.

I’m the pp who wrote negative things about Pineda and bullying incidents and I second this.

Will there be a replacement?

In Pineda's first year, 9 teachers, 1 instructional coach and 1 assistant principal left. After his second year, 8 teachers and 1 counselor left.

At this rate, it will be a school with none of the teachers I have heard so much about. I’ve heard replacement teachers can’t speak up bc their status in this country is dependent on him. Awful situation. We are strongly considering leaving. I know at least 7 other families of younger elementary considering leaving too.

The innapropiate touching was handled by DC Police Department and they found nothing at all. According with the children, they are never alone with the teachers, and most of the time they have more than one adult with them...
Probably the kids who spread that rumor about the adult should had been expelled.

That’s a great idea! Tell the kids that spoke up against an accuser that they should never speak up for themselves lest they face consequences! You taking your cues from the Catholic Church?

What you DON’T know is that Pineda left a child out of the initial investigation, it’s been reopened and is ONGOING.

In what world does a teacher WANT to return to that school? In what world do the accusers WANT to see the person they accused every day?

You are totally wrong and gross for spreading false accusations.

The new interim OA principal is Peter Meliotis.

I think it’s gross to omit an accuser from an investigation.

There were investigations. There have been police reports filed for each child involved. One investigation is still on going.
