Principal Resignation

Anonymous
Has anyone here dealt with a principal's resignation? Yesterday, the principal of our school resigned. Is there a search committee? Who takes over in the interim? What does DCPS do in these situations?
Anonymous
Assistant principal takes over. The search committee will be to fill the job for next year.

What school???

DCPS has floating principals as well.

come on, you can’t post this and not post the school.

This is probably Miner.

No, it’s not.

It depends on whether your AP qualifies to be the principal. Many do not based on length of service. DCPS has spare "in residence" principals waiting in the wings, but the last one may have been used up on Miner; not sure if they have another available.

Why not name the school if this is actually official?

Because it’s not official. He stated his intent to resign at an LSAT meeting last night. It’s unclear if he notified DCPS because parents, and the larger school community, have not been officially notified.

What exactly is there for you to “deal” with?

Got it. Different then. If it's a standard resignation, I think he has to give DCPS 2 weeks' notice.

This is at Oyster Adams.

A leaderless school and the impact it has on children. The fact that this is a fairly new principal makes me think DCPS did not do a great job…curious if anyone has been through it.

Sounds like that's a good thing, based on what I have read on here.
