Assuming OP found a way to make it work. I have been sick for 4 days with a very similar sounding illness and I talk in meetings 6-7 hours a day - from home, over video thank goodness. However this is what helped me have a productive week -
- Shower with eucalyptus mint shower steamers - Neti pot + gargle salt water every 1-2 hours - Lymphatic drainage massage for my face and chest with my gua sha stone or just my hands upon waking, at lunch, and before bed. - Alternate advil and Tylenol every 4 hours. - Sipping copious amounts of lemon or Ginger caffeine free tea all day |
| If she loses her spot for being sick there is a serious problem with the program and you should not want her to have anything to do with such people anyway. There are more reasonable people in the world. Find them. |
| If she gets everyone sick so no one can perform, will they replace the whole orchestra? |
| You're a real piece of.... Work op. Let's say work. |
That sounds like absolute hell. I’ll say openly what was said behind your back at the time: she should not have performed. |
NP and if this was anything short of recreational children's theater, I'm guessing that people actually didn't say something behind her back but rather lauded her for embodying the spirit of "the show must go on." The mores of DCUM are irrelevant to the theater world. |
No one is going to say it to your face, but they were talking and pissed. |

The ice packs in the bra caught my attention as well, but for a different reason. When I have a fever, I have the chills and the last thing I want is an ice pack. I try to bundle up as warm as possible, even if my temperature is sky high. |
Your kid should wear a mask. There's no negative impact to her if she wears a mask and there's a potential negative impact to others if she does not. Personally, I would not send my kid if she was feeling really really sick. This is not her career. This is just a fun activity. |
| What happened OP? Did your kid make it to the show? |
| Did you go? |
