Was BIL annoying/ rude?

I get that maybe the kids would only eat eggs a certain way, but then he should’ve just either had scrambled or hard-boiled, not have OP make yet a third kind of egg for him.

It would have been rude if you said you were making scrambled eggs for everyone and then they requested a different preparation. But you asked and the answer he gave isn't something some people find crazy.

I would have laughed it off and said "I'm making one type of eggs, what will it be?"

I don’t understand all these threads from thanksgiving hosts who seem flummoxed about handling the other meals.

Here’s a hint- If you ask people what they wantf, prepare for the possibility that they will tell you…what they want.

Here's a hint for the guests: if you want your every whim catered to, stay in a hotel.

I mean, it's fine to say what you want, but ask in a way that leaves your host an out. So if they offer breakfast, ask what's easiest for them, and if they offer eggs, say, "Well, we like ours three different ways, so it's not as easy as you might have been expecting."
