They know.

This is legit the worst thing I’ve ever read on DCUM.

How could you not know this??

C’mon just name the school already. Nobody will know it is you.

It would be anyone. A student worker. An admin doing data entry. A seasonal reader. Curiosity is a thing. People search stuff they find interesting.

Do you have “big” jobs?

Is the kid a legacy?

Development will, in fact, take a look at every kid's family who didn't apply for financial aid. But, my understanding was that this doesn't occur until after the kid has been accepted and is enrolled. It would be a little surprising that this occurs before admission, though perhaps that depends on the school.

It's always about $$$$. They are confirming if you can afford it.

+1. "The School"? What, like he got a message saying "Harvard University has viewed your mom's profile"?

I get regular notifications about who has looked at my profile. It doesn’t seem odd to me.

How do they know? Do you have to have a LinkedIn account for them to know?

Kid applies ED and does not apply for financial aid. Doesn't that mean we can afford it?

Not necessarily. They want to know if you can afford it all 4 years and if you're a potential development family they can pump for donations.

That might vary depending on whether the school is need aware or not?

I just looked at mine, per this thread, and several people associated with universities have looked at min -- but none that my DC just applied to.

If I want to look up someone that I don't want them to see, I do it in a different browser where I'm not logged in. But, many people restrict public access to sections.
