School looking at parent’s LinkedIn?

Anonymous
DH saw that the school our DC applied to ED was looking at his LinkedIn page. Is this a thing?

We have not applied for FA and DH has a good but totally normal job, nothing noteworthy of of unusual status.

I’ve heard of schools looking at kids’ social media (our DC is actually not on social media by choice) but parents?

+1. "The School"? What, like he got a message saying "Harvard University has viewed your mom's profile"?

I get regular notifications about who has looked at my profile. It doesn’t seem odd to me.

Yes, exactly - except not Harvard. Not BS at all. DH just texted me because he thought it was weird. They didn’t look at mine.

Adding you know if you go in linked in it will say “someone from Harvard University was looking at your profile” - it showed up like that, not a huge school so very unlikely to be a coincidence.

NP: LinkedIn does email notifications to members as to 'who' has searched their profiles. As I write this I just got an email from Linked in saying "you appeared in __ # of searches this week"

I noticed this last year when my kid was applying! I don’t know how common it is but anyway, he got in!

It wasn’t a big school and I had no connection to it otherwise

Is your last name unusual? Maybe they are searching linkedin for your kid and got your dh. It's usually the low-level interns who are doing the social media searches.

BS since schools would have a professional account and with professional accounts it will not show if you view the persons page.

One of the upsides to paying for the professional account.

I bet someone thought they knew your DH and was looking up to see.

Happened to me last year. I assume it is development.

I’m the person who said it also happened to me. No, I do not have an unusual name.

This happened when my daughter applied to boarding schools. Except it was a specific admissions associate who looked at our pages rather than a school account.
