Nope.

While it is not labeled as "honors," it is indeed labeled as "Advanced Level": https://coursebulletin.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/CourseDetails/Index/WLG2045A.

Some teachers may recommend to (or some kids might want to) skip French 5 and go straight to AP French. Possible scenarios are if you're coming into high school from a French immersion background or if you've done well in middle school French 3, etc. But, some kids might want to go slower and insert the French 5 into their French track, depending on their other classes. I'm glad French 5 is an option.

Yup. Mine did this.

Also, to the Nope person, AP, Honors and Advanced all carry the same weighting of 1 pt.

That will depend on the colleges they apply to. The University of California doesn't count a single Honors class outside of California. Only APs.

Every competitive college rebalances GPAs.

YES

Not true.

Can you explain what happens then?

If my kid takes Spanish/French 1-3 in middle school, and then French 4 freshman year, does he have to take Spanish/French 5 sophmore year and Spanish/French 6 junior year to get to AP Spanish/French 7 senior year? That's a lot of years of language before getting to AP.

In general, kids who get 3 full years in Middle School take 5 in sophomore year, and then Spanish/French Language in Junior year. If continuing past that, AP Spanish Lit Senior Year, and then I believe French 6 is a lit class Senior year.

Most kids do language 5 before AP.

Most kids do language 5 before AP.

That's true, unless they started language late 1 in 9th, 2 in 10th, 3 in 11th then AP in 12th

At our school they cancelled French 5 last year and only offered AP. This year they offer a combo AP French 5 and have one teacher teaching 2 classes at once
